I'm just starting research into all the bits required to get my Air Grabber hood working again. It's bolted permanently in grab mode for now. I see the Air Grabber kits & components and I also see the "Carb Air" under dash & engine bay cables. I get how the vacuum actuated kits work and all the items required to implement. Does the "Carb Air" cable system just give you a cable actuated Air Grabber? Seems like it would but I can't find any detail other than the cables themselves for sale. If it's in the Service Manual I can't find it, of course I can't search on key words and it's 9000 pages deep so I'm probably just missing it.

I'm just looking to open & close the hood scoop, a cable actuated system would be fine for me. Anybody done this?

Cable is 1969 only. The air grabber for 1970-71 is vacuum operated.

I had a early built 1970 Coronet R/T, 4 speed with the air grabber that was controlled by a pull cable. I've seen other 1970 cars that had the cable, those were early built 1970 cars to

The original question was about a 1970 Plymouth

1969-1970 dodge is a Ramcharger hood and is cable operated.
1970- 71 Plymouth and 1971 dodge are vacuum operated

Yeah, Thanks Moes. When I searched for this item I do show compatibility with the '70 model year. What I don't understand is how the mechanism might actually work. I see that there are (2) cables one for the dash-side & one for the engine-side. Do the cables connect to each other and then what apparatus actually connects to the Air Grabber hood door? Would love to see a pic of how this all goes together. Still seems like there's a part or two required beyond the cables to make it work?

70LemonTwst -

there are different posts on here about converting to a electric air grabber. Good Luck.

check this out

Ha! That's some cool stuff. Thanks for posting it. Makes perfect sense. I'm missing all of the cowling. And then either a vac cannister or piston drives the flapper up/down. Seems it's gonna be a small fortune.. Wait until I tell my wife what we're going to do instead of going on vacation this year. Thanks Moes!

The original question was about a 1970 Plymouth

1969-1970 dodge is a Ramcharger hood and is cable operated.
1970- 71 Plymouth and 1971 dodge are vacuum operated
That would be 1970-72 Plymouth and 1971-72 Dodge are vacuum operated.
