I have been diligently searching for a lower middle dash pad with ac cut out (still am) for my 69 Bee rallye dash...
I had posted this on several FB mopar sites. The other evening I received a PM for a guy saying his 80 year old uncle had one, and other parts. Even sent me a pic.

Was asking $150 plus shipping. I was suspicious but told him I would venmo $100, then when he shipped and sent me a pic of the box with my address and the item I'd send the balance plus shipping. We had several messages back and forth discussing shipping method etc. There may be a better way to do this, but never any guarantees.

I knew this was 50/50 but gave it a shot. He disappeared from FB messenger along with my $100. Lesson learned but I knew it was a risk, in my view worth taking as I needed the pad and the pic looked pretty good.

Just be careful out there...

Seems like a lot of work to rip someone off of $100. Get a friggin job, you pieces of crap!

Everytime I get something like that i always tell them I have a local friend or relative and he wants to pick it up for me and pay cash

then they’ll say “shipping only “ etc and ThTs where I just reply with Barry wood memes and laugh

scum bags !

Where did you send the money ? Maybe a member lives nearby ? And can investigate ?

It sure would be great to have the power to bestow festering rectal sores on thieves and liars.

Now THAT is an excellent idea that should weed out scammers.

good idea! I will do that next time.

If you think it could be a scam, the best way I've found is to use Paypal and insist on using 'pay for products or services' (don't do 'friends and family'). Offer to split the difference on the extra cost. That way you have protection if scammed, and if the seller refuses your offer then you know there's a good chance they were up to no good.

Anyone legitimately selling stuff over the internet has been understanding when I suggested it. But lots of people stop answering emails too. ;)

I had one here who tried to scam me, I did a thread on it.

I don’t know how he sent the money but you can always do a reverse look up on the phone number too. When I bought my satellite I did a reverse look up on the number and his last name and address matched. You’d be surprised what you can reverse look up

I've done the same thing before but have never bought stuff that needed to be shipped from people on FB unless I know them.

Another example of why I've never been on FB!
I've sold a LOT of stuff on FB. It's a ton better than CL around here but.....read my post above. If it's easily shipped, I usually post it on here first but if it's something large and not all that expensive, it goes on FB where cash is king.

Yeah usually when they tell you they only ship it’s clearly a scam. Who wants to deal with shipping and standing in line?
Even on offer up some clown had a ps5 listed for 250 brand new lol I messaged him and his location said Los Angeles but .... when I messaged he said he was in San Diego and could only ship so I said well that’s great because my uncle is in Oceanside and he can go over and pick it up and I got the whole “ I only ship” lolz stupid scammers ! The sad part is it works or else they wouldn’t do it

same for those vehicle warranties companies. I spent 20 mins talking to one and hearing the whole presentation and at the end I told him I was a 16 year old kid who got the car as a present lolz and he replied with “I can get you a student discount” so then after another five minutes I got tired and told him my mom came in and she was giving me problems

Yeah I’m in Alabama and he was in PA. I knew it was a roll if the dice.
