Do you wonder why that rifle
Is hanging in my den?
You know I rarely take it down
But I touch it now and then.

It's rather slow and heavy
By standards of today
But not too many years ago
It swept the rest away.

It's held its own in battles
Through snow, or rain, or sun
And I had one just like it,
This treasured old M-1.

It went ashore at Bougainville
In Nineteen Forty-Three.
It stormed the beach at Tarawa
Through a bullet-riddled sea.

Saipan knew its strident bark,
Kwajalein, its sting.
The rocky caves of Peleliu
Resounded with its ring.

It climbed the hill on Iwo
With men who wouldn't stop
And left our nation's banner
Flying on the top.

It poked its nose in Pusan,
Screamed an angry roar
And took the First Division
From Chosin Reservoir.

Well, time moves on
And things improve
With rifles and with men,
And that is why the two of us
Are sitting in my den.

But sometimes on a winter night,
While thinking of my Corps,
I know that if the bugle blew
We'd be a team once more.

Springfield M1C Garand Sniper Rifle from WWII

Description:
This is a very rare and desirable Springfield M1C Garand sniper rifle from WWII. It was manufactured in early 1945 with barrel dated 3-45. This rifle has an original M82 rifle scope, serial number 43562 and 7634671. The mount is serial numbered 3252145 and the base is not numbered. This rilfe comes with a verification letter from David H. McClain, M1C Verification Service. Developed in 1944, the M1C was the first production - level sniper variant of the M1 Garand semi-automatic rifle. Although highly effective as a sniper weapon, the manufacturing process was a problem, requiring a Springfield receiver to be selected off the line before heat treating, shipped to Griffin & Howe for base installation, and then returned to Springfield Armory to complete the process. The M1C wass phased out of production in favor of the M1D, which Springfield could produce in-house. There were fewer than 8,000 M1Cs produced and only about 4,000 issued. This rifle features an original cheek pad, sling and M2 Flash Hider. The stock is in excellent condition and has clear crossed cannons cartouche and "SA NFR". The optics in the scope are excellent and the bore in the rifle barrel is bright.

As a child, I always loved Colt firearms and always wanted a first gen SAA Colt 45.
Never thought I'd be able to own one.
The 2 I now own will be passed down to my 2 boys once I pass.

M1 Garand
Browning 50 cal machine gun
Winchester 94
M 16

M1 Garand , my choice for best military rifle. It is instantly connected with GI’s, and shot my relatives in Germany to pieces.

Remington 1100. Arguably one of the greatest shotguns of all time, it showed that a semi automatic can be reliable and affordable. Have been bird hunting since 1972 and the 1100 still the gun i shoot the best.
 
Lots of us are well armed ,we are just the minority that are law abiding and quiet and respectful of them. They say fear the guy that owns one gun because he will know how to use it.. I have one for everyday of the week I just have to pick.
