Reinstalled my oil pan following the factory manual and it clearly said 15 ft lbs of torque on the 20 bolts that hold the pan. I did this three times until I decided to replace the timing cover gasket as well. Everytine I removed the gasket it looked crushed but manual says 15 so I did 15

I found that there was no oil slinger so I added one from 440 source that for well before I had the problem with them.

ordered new oil pan because I just wanted this leak to end but nope the oil pan did not fit despite 440 source saying it would.
So I used my old 402 pan for the fourth time and this tune I bought a really small torque wrench that goes up to 6 lbs actually 6.6 to be exact.
I went to about 8-9 lbs and I’ve driven the car twice and no leaks. Drove it in high temp are tires, on freeway and on an uphill in the streets.

So far no leaks.

What do you guys think ? What and how I’m just trying to understand what happened.

I’m still paranoid and waiting for some leak but .... so far nothing keep in minds it’s only been about 7-9 miles of driving. I’d like to do more but my backs been giving me issues
 
Are you using a cork gasket ?
The reason I am asking is the manual is talking about torque on a cork gasket not today's aftermarket ones but I am sure someone here can offer more advice on the issue.

I used a cork gasket the first three times
The last time I used the rubber reuseable gasket from summit that a meme we here recommended
 
Sure that isn't 15 inch pounds?

Edit - just checked, no it isn't. Seems too tight for a cork gasket to me. I've never torqued them, just tightened by feel to not squash the cork excessively.

You scared me there a moment whew. I even straightened the pan the second time and noticed the third tone it was bent again from the 15

Well the pans did not fit, returned the classic one no prob there, 440 source won’t take there’s back so currently doing a credit card dispute . So I was only able to replace the timing cover, add oil slinger, new seal on timing, and new timing gasket.
 
My take on this is... the missing oil slinger ruined the front seal. You repaired this and now it doesn’t leak. Why question it? Go put some miles on it! Enjoy:drinks:

Because I’m worried they’ll come off or just waiting for something to happen on a longer drive
 
Wow... somebody complaining of "no leaks" on a Mopar ? Actually, most problems are due to over-tightening, distorting the flats which cause most leaks. It's like the garage gorillas that use a million lb-ft of torque on lug nuts.
 
The silicone and steel/silicone gaskets don’t need anywhere near the 15 ft-lbs.

4-5 ft lbs was all that I needed for the Moroso blue silicone trans pan gasket. Some of the silicone-only gaskets say 3-3.5 ft-lbs.

If it’s not leaking, you already won. ;)
