I know that my 1969 charger is a Hamtrack car. Other than that, don’t know much of its history. So, if there were 89xxx chargers produced in 69, how many of those cars were sold in Canada? It couldn’t have been that many. Were all Canadian-sold cars from the Hamtrack factory?
If you think landing a charger in the states is tough, they’re like hens’ teeth north of the border.
 
The population of Canada seems to run fairly consistently at about 10% of the U.S. population. Based on that and the reputation that Canadians at the time favoured more mundane, less optioned cars, I would guess somewhere around 8,500 made it north.

That’s a fair guess and all and you could very well be spot on. I’m just hoping there’s some actual records out there about Chryslers sent to Canada. This is one topic I can’t seem to find any info about on the interwebs.

Yep. Totally possible that my car wasn’t originally sold in Canada.
Where was your car made?
 
Made in St Louis. Sold right next door in Leavenworth Kansas. 23000 original miler. Some lucky to find such a car.
 
My Charger R/T SE is a Hamtramck Car..... but built to an "N97" code which meant "California Noise Reduction "Pkg and For Sale in California only.... which it was Sold to a US Naval Aviator Fighter Pilot stationed at Miramar afb in 1968
then the Charger came to Canada when he married a Canadian actress gal he met.... and she wanted move back here to Canada in the 70's and brought the Charger with them here to Canada under an exemption to the Auto Pact that allowed Canadians(her now married and marital asset) working in the USA to bring a Car back to Canada with them.

UN-restored or rebuilt.... still in fine shape and runs great !

It’s kinda weird that a Hamtrack car would be built for california considering there was an assembly plant in LA. Either way, it’s cool that you know your car’s full history.

For '69 B bodies, the LA plant built the Belvedere and Coronet line ups.

1969 Chargers were only built at the Hamtramck and St. Louis plants meaning they had to be shipped in to California from other plants.
 
I know I scrapped 4 of em up here. Including a '69 R/T SE and a '70 500. Back when you could buy one for a couple hundred bucks.
 
FYI:
Wikipedia does give the number 40 for 1969 daytonas that were built for Canada.
