I have an opportunity to purchase a running and driving 70 Charger 500. It's still with the family that bought it new, mostly original except 383 engine was replaced in 1972 with a 400 short block and stock 383 heads were put on. New interior was done "recently" has original 4 speed, sure grip rear end, and bucket seat w/ console. Needs lot of body work, every typical area has rust w/ worst spot being passenger rocker in front of tire. Rear windows seal is gone and silicon was used to patch/stuff holes, how much more rust would something like that cause? I'll post some pictures separately.

Thanks Nick

You mentioned, it's running & driving. Is the engine pic old ?

Lolz sorry but 20k ?!
Realistically it should be more like 10-12 but being that it’s a charger and they recently exploded my guess would be 22-27

here’s some recent sales that look to be in worse shape
It shows it sold but anyway if I was you I would just buy one in better shape maybe go up to 35-45 range and get something that’s going to save you the time and work
But it’s your choice

What a great color combo! And a 383-4 4 speed. But the rust is a big problem. 30K looks like too much.

With all you mention. If you can do all this metal replacement. Who knows what the bottom in like. And how much it will require. But I know I would not give much for something that requires alot. And Im capable of doing the work.

I know its a 70, but I would say 20k at best because you still have what looks like a lot of metal work to do and you don't know what's under the vinyl top at the corners and back bottom. I'm hoping the engine pic is of the old one, otherwise there is some work happening there. Good luck on this.

Just be forewarned, you will need anywhere from $50,000-$100,000 to restore that back to new, depending on how much of the work you can perform yourself. The good part is, a lot of the parts are available through the aftermarket.

30K is to much for that one. You will have a pile of $ in AMD metal and the cost to install it all.

Looks like lots of rust and there's always more hiding when you take it completely apart.

A31 is 3.91 axle package so that’s easy.

cool car when new. Cool car now but needs work.

yes 2 trunk floor pictures.
