With the new lift I am really needing better lighting in the garage. I just installed a new door with frosted windows in one panel that made a HUGE difference but that does not help at night. I like my work areas to be like the surface of the sun when I am working (which is why I typically like to work outside when possible). What are some really bright shop lights you guys are happy with that I could install including along the lift posts or under the drive on plates (4 post).

Thanks,
Jim

Jim what size is your shop and what’s the ceiling height? And what kind of budget
you have for lighting?

i did mine 5 years ago in T-5 54 watt HO fluorescents, brightest lights on the wall at home depot........ I needed 22 fixtures (2 bulb X 4 feet) and LED's were too expensive at the time, more than double if I recall correctly ........bulbs were 10 dollars a piece at home depot but found them at 1000bulbs.com for under 3 bucks ........ 5 1/2 years later I have yet to replace a bulb

I replaced old 2X8 fixtures, the difference is literally night and day

A large three bay garage with ceilings 12 and one end and 10 on the other

I swapped out my blubs in my 2X4 fluorescent celling light's in my paint booth. With led bulb's. 100 buck's for a case of blubs. Removed the ballast that cost as much as the fixture and direct wire to the led blubs. Found them on line. But I already had the fixtures and a friend of mine was putting the bulbs in his fixtures in his shop and that is when I made the move to the led bulb's.

LED's are super bright. I am slowly swapping my lights to LED

I had a screw in fixture above my workbench that I recently screwed one of the " fan" led lights into.. What a great cheap EASY fix to a low light problem... NO reason at all to pull it and install anything else.. Depending on your garage I could see installing 4 or 6 of these for all the light you would ever need...

I don't know what kind of lights you currently have but if you have fluorescent lights with 4-foot bulbs you can actually use the same lights and just bypass the ballasts in them to change over to LED bulbs. All you have to buy is the bulbs themselves.
It's a matter of rewiring the light fixtures in a different manner.
Me personally, I just built a 30X36 garage with 10 and 12 foot ceilings and went with LED lights from Amazon. I bought them for 185 shipped for a 10 pack.
They are Linkable which means you can add to them by plugging another light into them. I bought 2 ten packs and only used 10 of them.
I had plugs installed in the ceiling so I didn't have to cut any wires, Just plug them in and go and everything works off a switch as usual.

Linkable LED packs off the shelf from Home Depot, 12 of them in a 28x35 shop. No noise, no flicker, low energy use. Did the house garage too after seeing the results.

I've called two electricians to estimate install of flush mount LEDs. They've got too much work to handle a small job, so I've called a drywall guy and see if we can tackle it ourselves.

Day light or white. I went with Day light. led. Lowes want a fortune for the fixtures. If you can find some old 2X4 lights' and convert them cheaper.

Harbor Freight or Rural king 4ft linkable. Have 5 in a 2 car garage, it is like Yankee Stadium in there. No flicker or maintenance. 20 bucks a piece
