What did you do to your Mopar today?

Started prepping the underside of the Air Grabber setup and ran into trouble.
July 4th (1).jpg

Cleaning up the rearmost cone inserts, this happens....
July 4th (2).jpg

DOH!!!!
So much for Stinger fiberglass quality..... I would have thought those cones had more meat on them.
Anyway, I had to come up with a new way to hold the back end of the insert down.
So, off I go to Lowes and pick up some bits.
July 4th (4).jpg

#10-24 x 1 1/2" stainless screws along with some #10 fender washers and #10-24 furniture flanges.
First, put the pieces together....
July 4th (6).jpg

Next do a fit-check.....
July 4th (5).jpg

Now, mix up some of this to make it all come together.....
July 4th (8).jpg

Pour it over the new assembly......
July 4th (9).jpg

And let it cure.....by doing it this way I should still be able to use the proper bell nuts to hold the back end to the hood.

Moved a header away from transmission. Back on track now. Finally.

How did you move it.?

A pipe in a pipe (6' ish long) stuffed in the collector with leather glove where it contacted.
& a burly buddy.

Kept pulling on it gradually until it hit the torsion bar & it relaxed where you see it. So that'll be 'good enough'.
It took longer to lift the car than to make the adjustment.
Much ado about nothing-until having to re-work the exhaust...
But I am feeling MUCH better than I have in the last month or so. Been a lot of 'distractions' & 'inconveniences' around here.
NOT complaining!

Took it out to eat at Daly Burger drive in, the drive in out back was in operation since 1950’s but unfortunately got hit by a truck recently and the roof came down, but they start rebuilding this summer
Anyone from the Detroit area will remember it as a great cruise spot to pull in and in old school in your car

On Plymouth at Merrimen, used to hang there allot back in the 70s and 80s, on the way back and forth from Hines Dr.

While waiting for my Air Grabber door hinge to arrive, I put some more contrast color on the car.
First, the header decal....

Next, the engine callout....

Next I started the layout of the strobe stripe.
First mark the centerline of the roof and the centerline of the roof stripe...seen here in red grease pencil.
July 17 (12).jpg

Next, get the gap between the roof stripe and side stripe correct.
July 17 (11).jpg

Next....check the gap at the side window - mine came to one inch.
July 17 (13).jpg

Then put some magnets down as I still need to do the same on the passenger side. Many thanks to (72RoadrunnerGTX) for providing important location info...

This one is gonna be a real treat when it's done, looking good - keep it up:popcorn2::drinks:

Thanks for the kind words guys, I really appreciate it!
I'll keep picking away at it till it's done...but it is fightin me every step of the way!

They always do - keep it up and you will be rewarded big time!

I got the new driveshaft and pinion yoke installed. The old yoke was a little chewed, but since I upgraded to 1350 u-joints I had to get a new one anyway.
It's a Strange 3" Chrome Moly from Doctor Diff.
I also switched over to 28 x 10.5 MT slicks (from 29.5 Hoosiers.)
Hopefully get me off the line a little better since I am racing 1/8 mile now.
Took it down to the ice cream stand, everything seems cool.

Too bad it looks like rain tomorrow.

I bit the bullet and got the strobe stripe installed. Took quite a while to check both side stripes to make sure they were lined up correctly. Then started pulling the backing paper off and sticking it down. I started with the roof stripe first and then the passenger side stripe and finally the drivers side stripe.

Then the final step was to put the running birds on. Drivers side first.....
July 25 (6).jpg

Followed by the passenger side...
July 25 (8).jpg

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out..

Now it's back to the Air Grabber set-up. I had time today to sand the putty down I applied earlier.
I'm still waiting for the door hinge to arrive.
