You do what is right, thank you, I'm sorry or get out of my face. Time, place and situation should dictate a real mans response, always.

Apologize for what exactly?

And who says I should apologize?

If you apologize for something you did not do, or what someone else thinks is wrong, I think they call that being a "Cuck" nowdays. If you were right in the first place, you should not back down because of someone else's hurt feelings.

If you were in the wrong n the first place, then yes you should try to make it right.

I was going to say, I'm sorry. But others have already done so. Sorry. And I apologize if I'm making light of the subject. .... Hmmmm..... what was the question again ????

Some are capable of apologizing and some aren’t. There’s a couple people I’ve encountered in my life (a boss in particular) who to this day I deee-spize. He was an idiot and his disposition got worse as he climbed the ladder knowing which asses to plant his lips on. It was comical to watch, if ya put aside how pathetic it was. He would even try to emulate his current bosses’ mannerisms and accent. One was a guy from Boston…that was a trick he tried unsuccessfully, lol. The ****** would have a picture of his boss and him on his credenza…hmm and not one photo of his wife? (Longer-humorous and sad story here too.) Thankfully the **** wad didn’t have kids, at least then. It was evident he had some deeply rooted fears – a common trait IMO of people incapable of apologizing. Knowing that POS, and at one time being rather close friends, before he talked me into coming to his company, likely made it worse. Pathetic excuse for a human being.

And some say forgiving someone one may hate is healing? Lol, **** dat hey. I would never forgive that rancid asshole healing or otherwise...

Id rather go on than acknowledge a grudge against some bozo that done me wrong and moved on to the next
rung on the ladder
Or maybe focus on my s code Mopar s

Nobody is promoting apologizing for that which one is not responsible for.
I didn't take the original question that way, anyways.
WHOLE other picture, all this apologizing for past generations thing...
That's horseshit.
I won't ever apologize for:
- being born
- for being born male
- for being born the race I am
- for being born in this country (or for being proud of it, warts and all)
- for being born southern (by the grace of God!)
- for the religion I choose (or don't choose) to follow
Hell, for anything other than that which I directly had a hand in...

Yep...well, you certainly would have issues with your integrity, anyways.
This hits at the core of what an apology should be the starting point of - namely, admitting there was an error
so that the process can begin of fixing it.
After all, the first step in repairing a problem is being able to admit there is a problem to begin with, eh?

Lookit, I'm as headstrong as anyone. Drives my wife nuts sometimes - but when confronted with substantive
evidence to dispute something I've said or done, I do acknowledge it and accept responsibility for my error -
and yes, that starts with an apology typically if one is warranted.
Ain't nothing more useless (or pathetic) than an unexplained Red X on a post. Just sayin'...
I'll just add it to the collection!

Admitting fault when you messed up builds rapport and garners respect from others while absolving you of some guilt.
Stonewalling and refusing to own up to the mistake builds resentment and erodes trust for future interactions with people.
Don't say "My bad". (I hate that urban based phrase for many reasons) You can do better than that.
Acknowledging blame is only part of it. Showing some humility by apologizing shows that you are aware that a mistake was made and that you feel some shame for it and intend to do better.

Yo dawg, my bad. :)

sure when or if I was actually wrong
but not to some asshole, that deserved whatever I said
to begin with

some need to grow a pair
some need to lighten the **** up too

an apology is only as good as the person/attitude
from the specific circumstance & person doing it

Was sharing a personal example of the sort (IMO) having inability, or consider it a sign of weakness, to apologize. My apologies pard if my post appeared as if I haven’t moved on. It’s only when I have occasion to remember…that I haven’t. There’s a pun and a bit of humor in here somewhere.

Our Canadian Prime Minister will apologize for anything and everything that occurred to anyone since this country was discovered - and he likes to hand out big fat cheques to go along with it !!

I'm sorry to hear this..

I really don't recall hearing an apology from anyone above the Manager level. At best, if anything, you might hear an excuse and we know all excuses are valid by definition.
