Someone already reskined a '68 Coronet convertible and made it into a one-of-none '70 Charger R/T convertible. Looked correct too.

like this one?

I saw this one at Carlisle this year that someone else built. Pretty nicely done too.

I know of 2 68 chargers that are not for sale. And the thing is u can’t deal with someone that doesn’t need the money. 1st 1 is an Arizona car. Absolutely no rust anywhere. Interior is not even bad. 383 2 barrel with a/c. Car #2 Hemi Charger. It’s rough. He wanted $100,000 back in the 90s. Needed a lot of mechanical work. Ran and drove back then, but barely. Kim

I'd love to entertain stupid high offers for mine, but I can't get it out of paint jail. argh!

Idk, I haven’t talked to him in a while. He apparently bought it new and has no desire to fix it or sell it. When we moved it to his average about 30 miles from the city he drove it with no brakes and it was loud as hell. Like I said, he doesn’t need the money. I told him to have it restored or sell it to someone that has the means to do a total restore on it. He just laughs and shrugged his shoulders. Kim

It's his right to do what he wants with it I guess. Probably be one of the first things his family puts up for sale when he dies....

I hope ur right. U know I don’t even know what will happen with it. Maybe he wants to be buried with it. Dammed if I know. Kim

That’s usually what happens. The family liquidates

Here in Phoenix the housing market has gone through the roof. So are the 1968 and 1969 Chargers. I too am looking for a project 68 or 69. I’m not afraid of a little work. Both of the cars I’ve completed had their wheels in the grave . I’m not in it for the money, I’m in it for hobby, build drive and enjoy. If anyone sees one just keep all of us in mind that are looking.

^^^ I love seeing people like you (and me), bring these old cars back from the dead. What is sad is just how poor most of the project cars we find are now days and the idiot prices people want for them. Not just talking 2 nd gen Chargers but most everything!!
Every time is am looking at a project, first thing I ask the seller is "have YOU ever restored an old car?" 99% of the time, the answer is no.

Barbee,

I don’t want to be one of those people asking too much but the market right now is in the favor of the sellers. If someone is serious about purchasing a car, they will come to you with the money or not. Then the seller hast to make up his mind what he is willing to take in exchange for his car.

I just posted in General discussion on my car that I am attempting to sell. The question is I don’t know what it’s worth but you can never drive the price up, you have to start above and then be patient. If all you hear are crickets that is understandable too. Now I have to decide with some help from the guys here on this website their input to what my car is worth.

Steve

Good points but abuse is abuse. At this point if I buy one I’ll just pay the 75k and get somethings that’s pretty close to done or done.
Buying a basket case at this point for me is not worth it

A guy I know just bought a 68 or 69 charger that is done pretty nice. His words, I haven’t seen it. 493 stroker. Paid $40,000 Canadian. He says no way could he ever begin to restore his. The deals are out there. Kim

I have reached to age where what makes me happy old Mopar wise, is not what most consider THE car to own, as I have owned all those decades ago and when they did not cost the price of a big house or farm...OK so I exaggerate!!!
I just enjoy the build, getting it running and driving down the road, hearing the engine and feeling that fresh (HA Hot as Hell) air blowing thru my hair ( most of which is just a memory)! Not perfect, just a driver, nothing really desirable, no high $ HP engine builds, nothing fancy.
I am glad people can and will pay big $$ for whatever, makes my not special cars :steering:worth a little more, when I let one go!!!
