I have a RF interference capacitor on my MSD ignition normally when I hook up the negative post at the battery I get a small spark as that capacitor discharges. Now when I go to hook up the negative I'm getting a lot of spark as if something is wrong but I show no ground at the positive side. Any ideas?

is anything left on radio or heater, that will cause a spark when hooking it back up.

I always used a voltage probe light connect to negative cable with the alligator clip end and pointed end to batt negative, Any current draw will illuminate the bulb then you can pull a fuse one at a time to see which circuit the current draw is coming from. Remember to keep door jam switch depressed so dome light doesn't come on. That should narrow down where issue is.

I've always got a spark on hook up, on my '70 Challenger. After not finding anything wrong, I've come to believe it's the tic tok clock, as it's always on when connected...

Might be a short, need to measure how much amperage is being drawn. If amperage being drawn pull fuses until you find circuit that is faulty.

Might need to put MSD on relay if it is drawing current when turned off.

Good ideas all. We'll give them a try. Thanks
