I love estate sales. I search for Made in USA stuff. Today I just happened to drive by one, so I pulled in. It was on its 2d or 3rd day...so most of the good stuff likely gone. Too bad to, because he was a hot rodder, had a 56 Chevy, so I’m sure the garage stuff was good.

Got this puller, made in USA, for $1.

Love estate sales, and I usually head to the garage, barn, or basement ASAP, while my Wife goes into the main house.

I like finding Craftsman tools from the 60s and earlier. A couple years ago I picked up this huge Craftsman USA pipe wrench for $5. It paid for itself a few weeks later when I was working on our sprinkler system, an old one with galvanized pipes.

So, the wife buys expensive antique furniture and vases while you get good deals on tools. It's a wash.:D

My wife would be trying to beat me to the garage!

I look for old gas cans - the ones that actually pour. I hate these new "environmentally-friendly" cans.

A year ago I bought a pristine, all metal, 3 gallon can...looks like 60/70s to me but obviously hardly used. Metal flex nozzle with a adjustable vent so you can adjust the flow. No plastic on it anywhere.

$15. They kinda knew what they had.

I always found the "Good stuff" is not for sale. With some grumpy looking dude on guard? Typically with blankets covering the garage stuff? And of course if it's an auction? Forget it. I stopped even trying at them?

Maybe it’s the area you’re working, but here in the Yakima valley, I’ve had really good luck. Agriculture community surrounds and its been that way since the late 1890s. Still have some small farmer farms...I’ve made some of my best picks there. Story is the younger generation isn’t carrying on and they’ve sold to the neighbors. Everything in the barn and house has got to go.

It might be. I'm close enough to farm country to have sniffed around there too. But they seem even more protective. Could just be me and my luck? Lol.
