Guys,

The 24:1 manual steering box in my 71 charger has lots of play at high speeds and looking at replacing it with aftermarket quick ratio box but want to know if anyone has run either firm feel or flaming rivers and a set of hooker competition headers. I have heard they don’t play well with different headers.

thanks

Robert

Pretty sure the borgenson unit is small enough and no issues hitting...

Oops.. You are correct. I was half reading and half sleeping. Derp my bad.

Yes.
Someone does make a faster ratio manual box though, I don't recall who at the moment.
PST sells a 16:1 manual box. I have used a couple of them with no issues.

If the stock manual box fits, then the firm feel fast ratio will fit. It is a stock box with different internals, and you can use the same pitman arm you have now. The flaming River is a brand new fast ratio, but it looks about the same size as a stock one. There can be a header problem with the longer pitman arms that are used to quicken the steering, but the 16 to 1 manual boxes use the stock arm.You can put a long arm on the manual box for 12 to 1, but I wouldn't try parallel parking, and you could have header interference.

Same here. I really like the 16:1 box on my Duster. I ended up taking the one out of my Road Runner because my wife complained about it being to hard to turn at slow speeds. Wish they made a 20:1 model.

I had the same experience. Took out a 24 to 1 and put in one of their 16 to 1 units. Good unit and it's the same housing as stock. I'm using it with hedman 2" super competition headers with no fitting problems.

Guys, I want to thank you all for your input. I’ve just purchased the 16:1 PST unit for $278 after 10% off for being a member here!

I just can’t pass on that deal!
