Opinion on this GTX for sale

Its not very clean. If it was cleaner and had a few other goodies. Im sure it would be worth more.

I'd like to see a clear picture of the fender tag. I went to the sellers description and all the pics are there, as on the first page, except for the fender tag pic. Looks solid.

Nice GTX and I think its clean but a picture can lie its butt off.

I would not call it clean - might be solid and a good candidate for restoration. I can see all sorts of ripples, dings and shallow dents in the body - I would say the paint is a 15 footer at best. Same for interior - not sure how well it would clean up. I would say it's at a pretty premium price/bid right now. Paint is very expensive. Does the AC work - expensive if not? Need rear seat upholstery kit. Dash is a bit rough. Firewall has been blacked out.

A survivor, Power Steering, Power brakes, Air, Driver's quarter looks a little iffy,
Interesting at that price, probably going higher? Looks solid underneath!

At a first glance there is nothing that would turn me off from buying this car if i'd be looking for a 68 gtx.
Of course i would look at it in person or get it inspected before bidding.

Its not "one year old used car" condition, but a nice survivor i would say. (From the pictures and description probably hagerty #3, not sure.)
Without surprises i would not restore but if needed fix a few things and drive it as is.

Been working on my 68 for the last 3 yrs. In my limited experience,, if you see rust, there’s more you can’t see. The rust near the vin tag would concern me and I’d like to see what the floor under that rug looks like. I took mine apart and found more shitty work than I bargained for. However,, I love working on it. It’s a sickness, lol.

Looks like the firewall is painted black as well...lot of little things that keep it from being a really nice car, however, I'd drive it!

Good deals on nice cars are not found on eBay. They are on there to sell sight unseen. I would look elsewhere.JMO

Clean is a relative word

it had a clear title & was a Calif. car until 5+ years ago
so it shouldn't be a total rust-belt bucket

an A/C car if it actually works a plus too

Looks to be 'solid car' with typical 50+ years of 105k miles use
carpet looks dingy, not clean
engine bay looks like a daily driver, dingy, not clean
not sure about the firewall being black
or whether it's just poor lighting in the photo

be nice to read the VIN & Fendertag photos

so far @ $28k is not too bad of a deal,
I doubt it will end at that price thou either

don't get much for $30k anymore

it's a 68 GTX pretty desirable cars
not exactly a survivor/mint condition either
but not a rustbucket trash heep either

I've seen far worse sell for far more too, even here
look at the gen 2 Charger Basket Cases for $30k

it's not 1990 anymore (or pre-2007)

need to get eyes on it, by yourself/in person
or someone that knows these cars well

The underneath shots of the untouched floor pan actually are the most positive shots. I also like the completeness under the hood.
Body is lumpy though, do not buy it unless you personally inspect it, take a magnet with you.

Should a 68 with A/C have an Orange engine? I would not consider a car that has had its engine out for a "repaint" and a painted firewall to be a "survivor".

With the exception of the 426 Hemi, all 68 big blocks would be turquois.

All scratched up and really rough paint texture. Sand and buff maybe, but the smoother paint will make poor bodywork look even worse (waves). Ok if that’s what your expecting, but pictures always look great

No 1968 big block was orange, ever!

A hemi isn’t a big block, it a HEMI.

The oil pan is still turquoise! LOL. The A/C compressor is a 1970. The mounting bracket and lines say so. Do you see the metal clamps by the fender tag? The line to the condenser should run past there. The fender tag is mounted the wrong direction.

Column shift with purple carpet. It’s already too high.

Couple of observations

Paint is for ****. Anytime someone paints over the door strikers is a big red flag for me. Really ? 6" worth of masking tape was too much to ask ? Calls into to question the rest of the prep work.

Wrong radio bezel. Nitpicky, sure, but they ain't cheap.

Wrong color on the engine. Could mean nothing, could mean it's not numbers matching.

Firewall looks black to me. Again, nothing that can't be cured, but as we all know, once you start down that rabbit hole......

In my opinion, it's not a pig by a long shot, but at the current bid, you'll be north of 50k by the time you sort it out. Probably more.
