Good morning everyone, quick question for you experts out there….I have a 1968 GTX Hardtop. 1968 NOM 440. Car has no AC, power steering and manual brakes. Automatic with 3.23 gears and a 22” rad. I am almost certain someone put on a different fan in its previous life what is the correct fan? And should it also have a clutch fan? I included a pic of the fan I currently have.

My '68 unrestored GTX with original engine, original 22 inch radiator, automatic, no A/C, and 3:23 rear has the same fan, no clutch. I also have the broadcast sheet, and it matches.

I'm going through this exact scenario myself. I'm about to blast and paint the correct pieces for mine. The info I have is in '68 all 440 cars with automatics and a 22" core used a 2 piece metal shroud regardless of options. Upper is 2417423 and 2417427 for the lower. The fan should be a direct drive 18" #2863226 with a 1.24" spacer #1825932. The 440 4-spd got the 18" seven blade torque drive fan 2863215 and 2806070 clutch.

I forget to mention the shroud. Baby Blue has the two pieces described above.

Bob from Glen-ray is getting them for me. Here are some pics of the fan and the only number I can find and the spacer

If your spacer is about 1.75" high it's probably for a different application like a small block or C body. That will move the fan an additional 1/2" into the shroud. It should use the 1825932 1.24" spacer. These spacers are also found on 383 2bbl cars.

Ok thank you
I just finished the installation in mine today. If the fan was 1/2" closer (using the 1.75" spacer) the blade tips would be way too close to contacting the radiator. That's with my particular core. Right now the tips are about 5/8" away and the fan is about halfway into the shroud.

Ive been looking around for one of those spacers and cant seem to find an original or a reproduction in that 1.24 size.

That looks good. Im going to have to find a smaller spacer. It fits now without a shroud. Not sure it will with one installed. I am almost certain my engine was from a 68 c-body. I know my transmission was from a polara probably both from the same car.
