Great video was of some cool old school drag cars. Click on the picture to open the video and check it out.

Thanks for the great video. A few of my neighbors were going. Unfortunately, I had to work.

I wish they had a series like that on the west coast, i have a couple candidates, id start work tomorrow.
But, i am not a fan of the $5000 trans, and 15-20k small block pro-built engines that are dominating what should be a fun series
I get tired of people with money that have to spend, cause they have to win.

Never been to a Gassers event. Its on my bucket list though. Thanks for sharing the Vid. Pretty cool.

Chicks with thigh high boots add to the show nicely. :popcorn2:

There's bunches of SEGA gasser vids on you tube.
Authentic 1967 style, very restrictive rules, and all four speed stick, straight front axle required.

Checkbook racers...

Love the gasser classes
I did some nostalgia racing in the SCTA (Southern Calif Timing Assoc.)
SCTA ran at Fremont, Sears Point, Sacramento, Bakersfield
a lot of other tracks out of state
Also in the Goodguys bought in shows
& NHRA Heritage races, most were at Famoso/Bakersfield
ran B-gas in my 49 Ford Tudur Bussiness coupe
normally Methanol injected org., converted changed nozzels & bypasses
to run VP 114 racegas BBC 477cid-498cid depending on timeframe
Budnicks 49 Ford Business Coupe Pro-Gas #4.jpg

My org. combo... 477cid P/G 8" conv. 9" ford 4.88:1 15x33x15 Firestones
ladder bar/coilover combo
best of 7.98 @ 169 best, 2650#s
way faster when I did the 499cid
with Brodix 3 heads, 4.50" P/S block, 3.75 billet 427 crank
it was really set up to run 8.50 & have a ton of power to spare
That 49 did very well in the Super Chevy Series too
late 80's early 90's N2O & Blown doorslammer stuff,
before it was Pro-Mod
also we did the World fastest street car, put on by Super Chevy Sunday Mag.
in Phoenix what used to be Firebird raceway too
you drove a 50-mile loop, then raced the car
most of the contestants didn't finish the loop, most got too hot
they "adjusted the rules" BS,
just so they could have a full 16 car field, I was pissed
but still wanted to race, so I went with it
& it went 8.98 like 169-170-ish IIRC black-tracking the whole way
I won my class & $5k, that was good payday back then
It had to be real DOT/treaded tires (I ran ol' M/T 18x33x15 S/ST)
not the drag radials we have now
most guys didn't even get down the track,
it was a total smoke fest, like days of old
my partner drove my 67 Camaro, 468cid all iron LS7 BBC
would run low 8's hi 7's on slicks, good tracks
he was in a Mod-Production Class
at that time & unfortunately hit the left wall at about 140+, in the finals
& we had to load it up on the trailer

I know, I know not MoPars, very few Gassers were back then too
very few good parts for them too
Budnicks 67 Camaro 8.98 @ Sacramento early 1980's (brightened up a tad).png

This was a real Pro-Gas (8.50) car, I ran in B-Gas usually nostalgia shows
Goodguys or SCTA usually

Budnicks 49 Ford Business Coupe Pro-Gas #8 Interior.JPG

Budnicks 49 Ford Business Coupe Pro-Gas #9 front suspension.JPG

Budnicks 49 Ford Business Coupe Pro-Gas #5 rear & wing.JPG

the 49 was in this configuration
2900# A/Gas (was a 7.50 class) it'd run 7.20's @ 188+
526cid Alum. Milodon Mastodon
8:71 about 20% over, about 50* of timing too
a really conservative combo
but way too much gear (4.88:1) for the combo
also it had a 4 link & Panhard bar in by that time
Budnicks 49 Ford Pro-Gas Hemi Ed Big Daddy Roth tee shirt #1.JPG

& only the Blown Inj. Mastodon Hemi,
depending on which sanctioning bodies
some allowed alcohol/methanol
& some required gas, in Gasser Glasses
alcohol/methanol was way easier on parts,
ran way cooler too
never ever worried about detonation on alky
could run 35% over 'easily' & never have much if any breakage
with the proper gears :poke:

It wasn't the straight axle 60's type jacked up Gasser
it was low slung, all the tire under the car
it was set up for Pro-Gas 8.50 class org.
they ran in all up & down Calif back in the 80's

sorry I sort of went off a tad
