Which Engine Paint do you like?

I use KBR high temp. They specialize in that stuff.

More questions on this thread! I looked at Bill Hirsch‘s website, and I then looked at the turquoise blue that goes with my engine block (it’s unpainted now). I’m not sure turquoise will look the best for my project. I’ve got a deeper blue theme in the accessories, and corvette black for some of the interior, so originality doesn’t matter.

What is a engine blue that really looks amazingly awesome? Deep blue and some sparkle? Any auto manufacturer.

Will a quart be enough for an engine?

Before i recently repainted my 440 turquoise, i had painted it Dark Ford Blue. Looked good for a long time. I was tired of hemi orange/chevy orange/ black.
If you're getting it mixed for a gun, you could add all the metallic you want.

A pint will do an engine, but you may want to buy the quart. You can touch up stuff if you need to do any repairs. Water pump, oil pump, change the stat, etc.....

I just used etching primer under the Eastwood ceramic and it looks great and flowed out very well.

my block is being repainted. It’s been wire brushed and as best I can removed all loose paint. I don’t think I would use self etch if some paint is still on the block?

Paint prep is always key no matter what you are painting or how good the paint is. Bad prep, bad paint job.
Mineral spirits is no longer available in some states because of recent EPA changes.
Dawn dish soap, scrub brushes, lots of clean water to rinse and compressed air will get you almost all the way there.
Scotch brite pad prep.
Blow off, use a good primer. Use thin coats.
Ceramic based.
We have had excellent results with Dupli-color Ceramic. Must be clean and take your time.

I ask because people online said Eastwood is too thin? That’s with your gun or a spray can you can buy?

thanks

i shoot it with a gun, a cheap harbor freight gun would work if you don’t have a decent one.

my block was already painted. All I did was etch prime the bare aluminum parts and scuff the painted parts with scotchbrite.
