Hello everyone,

I am looking to buy some parts for my 1971 Charger. I asked the seller what he was asking for his items and the prices seem kind of steep to me. Not negotiable either.

Can anyone help me out/give their opinion on these prices?

1973/1974 Satellite split front bench seat - $600

It needs to be recovered as can be seen.

150 MPH rallye instrument cluster supposedly not cut up (no pictures) - $800

Rear upper seat frame core (no pictures) - $200

400/440 long block cores (no pictures) - $1000.

To me it seems kind of high. Half that for each in my opinion.

If the 400/440 cores are stock bore, complete long blocks, I would say that $1,000 is reasonable. Different date codes demand different prices, but still reasonable IMO.

I live in Canada, so perhaps the pricing is different here.
I would not pay more than 400-500$ for a 440 core.

Asking him what hes smoking! For $600 your better off looking for buckets and make it a floor shift!

Front seat - hard to even give these away. Everyone wants buckets.
Rallye cluster quite high unless it is perfect and has a tach, then it is still top $.
Rear upper seat core $100 max. I'd trade you one for a six pack if you were closer.
Core long block ok if 440 forged crank std bore. Less otherwise.

Running 400's can be had for under $500 complete carb to pan and sometimes with transmission.

I agree $150 MAX on bench seat and that should include tracks.

Clusters are all over the place.

I just sold a non-clock/tach rallye dash complete for $300.

Seat frame oughtta be about $50 including good padding.

Last 440 I bought was $850 and included a truck and a manual transmission, but I know that was a steal.

Seems like when you need it. They're hard to find and pricey. But when you don't need it . The smoking hot deals are everywhere!
A while back, was looking for a 440. I ended up only finding a low mileage 413 so it's now a 426 wedge. But afterwards I picked up a 440 cheap and another 413 for free! Just had to pull it. Go figure!

Unless you need a date coded block the 440 price is too high. Consider purchasing a bare block and a stroker kit. If you plan on a high performance build by the time you pay for pistons, rings, bearings, resizing rods and rod bolts, turning the crank and balancing, the balanced kit is value for money and considerably stronger.

Lots of (RUNNING) 440's out there for $400-600. Especially if you pull one from an rv then you can see/hear it run and maybe even do compression test before buying. A used long block core for $1000 is crazy unless you're after a date correct HP block.

Thanks everyone! I wanted to be sure that I was not the crazy one thinking these prices were high! Going to keep looking for the deals!

Have you signed up for any of the facebook parts groups?

Yes I have. Good suggestion. I have yet to find anything local though. A lot of parts are posted from back east.
FB Marketplace search can be limited to just your area. As can Offerup. It's not as easy as it used to be just got to stay diligent till you find what you are looking for. Also you can set search parameters on CL and get notifications automatically. Mopars have always been more expensive in terms of parts cost, just know that going in and set expectations accordingly.

Thanks for the help! I did not know that you can do that with CL! I will have to research how to set that up. I will have to tinker with FB parts groups a bit as well. And yes, I am learning that Mopars are expensive! This car is hurting my wallet.

Where in California? I know a guy here in Modesto with a complete 400 he'll sell it for $400..

Need to go to a big Mopar show with a swap meet. These prices are really high.
