1966 Coronet Post - MAXIMVS III

It came off the coronet. It's going to theman440 in Vegas. A surprising find to say the least. I'm going with a 69 R/T set on my car.

Finished the front end rebuild, front/rear disc brakes mounted, new PST manual steering box mounted. Now just doing an inventory of what parts I have on hand. I finally got the windows whiskers/wipers in - almost a 2 month wait on those but they look nice. Next up is finishing up the engine; still need to have the bare aluminum heads finished, cam valvetrain installed and complete re-wiring of the whole car and a thousand other details and parts to install. Goal is running and driving by Christmas.

Love your car and the project as a whole. Would love to see shots of the blue interior. Forgive me if you have them posted in another thread. I recently changed the interior in my 72 Plymouth back to it's original Poly Blue and couldn't be happier.

The interior is in pieces right now, I'll post pics when it's all installed. The blue will be really nice in this car I think.

Front sway bar bracket pics?

Picked up a ratty old pair of Cal-Custom valve covers. I tried polishing them but I suck at that stuff. Bit the bullet and used All Metal Polishing of the Palm beaches and the transformation is shocking, see pics

Before pics first and after pics in the next thread

He's good! Text him @ 561-723-8039, tell him Chuck Emery sent you. About two weeks from drop off to pick up for my set - they were bad, pitted. They will look great with the Day 2 I'm doing on the Coronet.

Great thank you!

Setup the springs on the heads tonight. These are Stealth heads with comp 924-16 double springs (outers installed for break-in, I will install the inners when it's broke in on a dyno). The install height is 1.9" +/-0.020 (1.880" - 1.920") - installed heights were coming way too short, averaging 1.850" - 1.865". I elected to go with Comp 614-16 +0.050" keepers, installed height after installing the +0.050", were right in the money, from 1.895" - 1.910" across the board, most of them on the money at 1.9, I had to shim two springs though.

The valve seals are Comp Viton units, retainers are Comp 10* as well as the locks (+0.050").

You can see from the pics that I'm using the Comp spring height micrometer - made this a breeze and knocked it out in no time, I highly recommend getting one or borrowing one, it will make your life easier and take out some of the guesswork. Very easy to use, anyway see the pics.

Coming together, should be ready for motor/trans installation in the next few weeks and then break in. I built this K-member fixture that bolts to a Harbor Freight trans jack that I had laying around - it's rated for 2000 lbs., see pics. My welds suck I know that but they are gorilla welds and will hold.

Mounted the gages. Most purists won't like it but considering it's an original slant six car and I'm a racer at heart and the 66-67 B-bodies don't lend themselves to optimal gage mounting, I chose this route. See pics, still need wiring run but should look OK and be functional for what I need them for.

Just got the bumpers back from Tri-City Plating and they are going on the car this weekend. The car may be sold to make way for a project that is near and dear to my heart. When that happens I'll post an update on the new car. In any case, I'll post pics of the bumpers mounted on the car.
