TTI vs Summit or Jegs

I bought the Jegs ceramic coated headers for my 440 and they are great for the money. They tuck up tight and leave good room for spark plugs. No issue with starter either.. Only negative is they contacted the torsion bars so they needed to be dented on both sides.

I've found Summit brand parts are just rebranded quality parts.. so far. My Summit distributor is actually a Mallory. If you carefully compare you'll likely find their headers are identical to a reputable brand, probably the same goes with Jegs? These guys don't make their own and have a reputation to uphold.

My TTI's on my big block w a stock ride height, scrape speed bumps sometimes. I have to go "Very" slow over them.

No problems using those headers. I used the same ones from Jegs on a 1970 Sport Satellite 318 that I used to have. There's lots of clearance for speed bumps, but I had to put a coupe of dings in them to make them fit.

Not exactly apples to apples but I installed the Flowtech on my 71 small block B body and really like them. They are very similar to the headers you are looking at with the exception of straighter tubes underneath car. Did a side by side with the JEGS/Summit which I believe are made by Patriot. Mine were from a swap meet but I would not hesitate to get the Summit/Jegs and get better ground clearance. Note that you will need to keep the #5 and #7
plug wires off of the headers with either angled boots, wire protectors or some kind of wire loom.
You will also want to install a mini starter or 90's to 2001 Denso unit out of a Dakota/Durango/1500.

I have the Patriot and they hit the T-bars needed to ding them. This is with a 440 a 383 might give more room.

Yep to all of the above. If you don't want to dent them up to make them fit on a BBM buy the TTI headers.

I have the TTI 2" headers and the full 3" exh on my 63 out the back of the car. It fit great and the headers never hit. Been on my car 10 years and still going strong. Ron

I curse the 2" Hedmans on my 440 GTX all the time actually.
Fit? Sure, after some judicious use of a 5 pound sledge... :)
Plug swap time is always aggravating as hell, too.
Problem is, they came with the car over a decade ago and I haven't driven it enough to
wear them out and I don't throw away serviceable stuff, so they stay....and I curse 'em.

Hooker 1 7/8 thick wall Comps. Blasted when new and painted with VHT header paint. 3 months and still look great. Oil resistant, etc. They dont hit or rub with a B motor in my 71. Mini starter took about 3min to install also (with floor shift and manual steering with column pulled out the way). Summit exhaust kit was cheap and omly a few hours to install.

Hooker super comp 1 7/8s here...they fit with no hammer. I do have the mini starter and once I went to the "thick crush" gaskets from Mancini Racing all is good.

If your car sits lower than stock, the Small Block Jegs/Summit headers on the driver side hang below the center link.
No bad if you run your front suspension Torsion Bars higher than stock or use taller front tires. The #5 and #7 plug wires(As stated above) have clearance problems because they are made for A bodies and that exhaust tube has to be in the position to clear the steering shaft. On a B body there is a ton of room.I run the spark plug heat boots on mine. Mine are not coated and I may heat and bend the pipe out for more clearance on my 63.Not saying that you may or may not want to buy them un- coated do the mod and then have them coated. More cost involved. So far the heat boots seen to be working.Sorry best photo I got.

Or Hooker Super Comps.

Same here, 1 7/8 Hooker Super Comps no modifying necessary although they were tight to the 727 pan when I still had an automatic in it.

Funny you say "tight to the pan".... I was under my car looking over my to do list and I thought...man that's close to the pan. I can fit my fingers in there but not a bunch more.

I went with Wrapped TTI 1 7/8" into the TTI xpipe exhaust everything fits no "Adjusting" was needed and have not hit them once on the road. More worried about smacking that 7 QT oil pan TBH.

That's odd as TTI claims they have more ground clearance than any other brand. I think Doug's are also good in that regard.

Happy with TTI’s. Over ten years. Any scrape is the Collector and harmless. DON’T buy direct. I prefer Summit vs Jegs. I’d use a vendor here if I buy again.
