Ive been pretty busy and staying away from media recently, but I wanted to share my day from a couple of weeks ago. A good buddy and I had a great day at the GoodGuys Northwest Drags.

Mike is a friend that has an absolutely SICK ‘69 Camaro. This thing is set up! I call it “The Unfair Advantage” because it has every legal trick in the book. He hasn’t made a single race this year however, as he’s been busy taking care of important stuff with his (4) kids. He came out for the good guys race though, and it was unbelievable to watch him in the drivers seat for the first time in nearly a year, put up one stellar round after another. He was mowing through the field like he’d never stepped away. Luckily, I was on the other side of the ladder having similar success. I had one round win that I was really happy with a when I wasn’t great at the tree, but made a good read on track position and executed on a solid decision at the top end for a winlight.

As the field drew the the final 3, We were both still there and I drew the bye, then watched him put a solid run up to put us together in the final. The Goodguys race features Nostalgia Funny’s and the crowd is usually pretty good. As the night drew toward the 11:00 curfue, we were tight against the clock and the promoters didn’t want to disappoint the patrons by shutting down before the FunnyCar final, so they pushed them in front of us in the staging lanes and we then watched in horror as the car in the right lane went kaboom on the burnout with approx 10 minutes left until a hard curfue. Sure enough…. Cleanup needed and we got scratched.

We split the purse, and flipped a coin for the hardware. The coin toss went my way, and the big yellow Mopar took home the winners hardware. We had talked about meeting in the final someday for quite some time. To do it at A big race was super cool, and the way things ended up was pretty neat really; As one of my best friends and I will forever be able to banter the outcome of the ‘21 GoodGuys Final round.

Now that is what this sport is all about !

Nice work. I've been in this situation. We met up and ran for bragging rights later on.
