i cannot seem to find the answer i need!, i need to tow a car with my gladiator, uhaul wont rent me trailer, says my jeep wont pull it?
2021 Gladiator Rubicon
towing a 92 le baron - rwd conversion, so I cannot dolly it .. any thoughts ??

Buy a $1000 trailer from craigslist, use it, then put it back on CL for $1500?

its not the pulling they are worried about its your ability to stop the weight of both vehicles

I had the same issue with U-Haul.
Their computer said my GMC Canyon couldnt pull a 69 Dart.
Of course it can, and did in the past...Its all in their computer.
So, now I tell them I'm pulling a 90s something Honda, and they rent me the trailer. Been bringing my Dart to Carlisle for years that way. Potts!

Also, this year, they tried switching me to the Tow Dolly since the "Honda" was FWD.
I told them I rented the Auto Transport because both rear wheels are flat!
They rented me the Auto Transport.

I don't mean to be negative but when your coming down a hill on the freeway and you don't have enough weight in the tow vehicle to keep the loaded trailer stable , bad thing happen in a hurry, I've helped clean up a few

very true, i would take my sons 89 d150, just worry about the trans making it across jellico

What does that Gladiator weigh?

according to web site curb weight is 5050 lbs, that seems awful heavy

from cinci, oh to pigeon forge, tn about 300 miles, 1 mountain to cross, Jellico

I have never liked those tow dollies. I would likely rent the trailer with the d150, then have a "problem" that required you to use the jeep.
(Le baron race car? What does it weigh?)

i honesty dont know what it weighs, was bought from a fellow member here by my best friend, and i purchased form his estate, stock curb weight is 3000 lbs, converted to a 360 small block with a ford 9 inch rear, so i would think 3500 lbs +/-

It looks like your liberty is rated to 4500 lbs towing. So, with a 3500lb car and maybe 1500 lb trailer (those u haul trailers are very heavy for their size) you are already technically overloaded. I'm sure there is a safety margin built in, but...... (maybe that's why they won't rent you a trailer). You could do a Trans service on the d150, and take it easy over jellico.
Maybe the answer is to rent a suitable truck, to go with the trailer.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

thanks for your input, but it is a gladiator (2021 ) not a liberty, show towing capacity at 4500 lbs, so either way pushing limits

All those toys (not to mention that garage-mahal of a shop) and you don't own a trailer?
