Time to hit the Track.

Time to hit the home track for the 2nd and final time this year. Weather is supposed to be good this weekend and perhaps Wooks and I can both dip into the 9’s a time or 2.

Changes: Trying a shear plate under the dominator, some jet changes, hockey pucks for bump stops and new big rear tires.

Hoosier 29.5 X 11.5 W’s. 96” rollout, 15.2 cross section and 13.25” tread. The new big tire’s additional circumference may take away a little on both ends, maybe not, we’ll soon know. Maybe turning the little 505’s launch RPM up some too!

Good luck this weekend. Will be looking for good et

Waiting with baited breath, eh.

Hi Hoser!
Just got home, half assed unpack and showered up. Was a cold weekend. Saturday we got rained out after 2 test passes.
Today we got through it. I ended up 3rd. Got a little cash for the day and that was the wrap of the season. I come up against a very good racer who cut. A .002 and ran his number and I was very done. I couldn’t run my number that pass anyways, a spinning 1.41 60.

Air was great but the track wasn’t. With my new big tires I was spinning and running between 1.37 to 1.41 60’s. The good news is that my high speed miss is fixed! Seems that either my tach is reading low or my box rev limit dial is. Tach says 6600-6650 crossing over the stripe, rev limiter was set at 6800. I turned it up to 7300 and no more miss on top end. With 1.37 to 1.39 60’s I run a couple of 9.98’s. Too bad I wasn’t running my usual 1.32-1.33 60’s. Could have seen some low 9.90’s today.

A couple pics, and an ok way to end the season.

OK, now get some sleep!

This was as close as I got yesterday to the winners circle. 3 win lights away from going all the way.

Will be going into next season ready to rock and no more top end surging, thank God. I’ve got to give credit to old Superstock Racer. I reached out to him from the track yesterday and mentioned my top end surge that I was still experiencing. We talked about jetting options and he threw out there, “check your rev limiter” I told him it was at 6800, he said crank it up. Next pass, problem solved.

So that’s it for another season, if that’s what you could call 2 race meets, thanks to the Covid crap.
Plymouth is cleaned up, loaded up and heading out to storage later today. There’s a Dart coming home today and I want to cut a left side access door into my trailer in the days coming up.

Isn't amazing how you can yank the wheels, carry them and still have the 60ft in the toilet?

Not yanking as high or far for this guy. I tried dropping pressure into the day. 60’s got worse and tire chatter. In the 4th round I dialed 10.02 and could only run a 10.05 on a 1.41 60’ and 132.8.

Do you run MSD ignition? We had that same rev limiter problem on motorcycles, running the limiter too close to the working RPM

Yep all MSD. I figured a couple hundred rpm spread would be enough but obviously not. Another lesson. Hey well all this does is make me more anxious to get back at it next year.

Did the switcharoo this afternoon, the Dart came home.

When it spins add air, don't remove it. I've been as high as 15 psi.

Yes thanks. I’ve been schooled on that by several people now and I won’t make that mistake ever again.

Pulled this old thread out once again! Yes it’s time to give it a shot this weekend up at the track.. The rain has stopped and it looks like one of the 2 days this weekend will be dry. Bonus is that Buddy Wooks is on the mend from a nasty bout of Covid and will be there too. Looking forward to a good weekend, will try to go some rounds and will see how close a guy can run to 10.0 without stepping over the line and getting into trouble.

Of course the traditional load pictures..

Sure is a dream to load the sedan with the left side trailer door, no regrets building that into the trailer. Sure not going to make the mistake of running too low of air in the rear tires like I did last time..

Was a nice surprise to see that my local track used my car for this year’s T shirts and hoodies.

Looking good as always. Good luck at the track. Keep us updated

Looks great as always. Last time out we were up to 14 psi. 60ft was with-in .008 in 10 passes. Except for the two it clicked with the rear tires.

I’ll be hitting it this weekend as well. It’s a double-header weekend at Pacific Raceways, weather willing. Let’s put a B-Body in the winners circle!!!

My season? At least the pistons and rods finally showed up. Ordered in May. I'll run them to the machine shop Monday. Holding on final hone and balance and head welding. Taking this opportunity to get the scratches n the roof and 1/4 panel repaired. Along with the new hood getting painted

Don't forget to pull the foam blockoff off the hood! Don't ask why I said that!

Another weekend in the books. Got in one day out of 2, rained out on day 2. The 64 worked well with 133 60’s and in 3 hits it went 10.07, 10.10 & 10.06. The car worked better than the driver. Lol. My day was over early on after cutting myself a .024 only to come up against a .000. I was able to run him down, and take the stripe with ease, expecting to see my win light come but nope, I broke out. Damn.
Wooks ran well also, although neither of us brought home any silver this weekend. We are back at it in 3 weeks for the last double hitter plus a make up race day from today’s rainout.
I did grab a short vid on a test pass and a couple of launch shots.
