Yeah, it is 30 miles off the coast but I'm amazed that I'd never heard of these island before.
The topic came up when the Job Superintendent mentioned that the company once put in a bid on a construction project there.

There's an Island known as Ascension in the South Atlantic Region. Flew in a number of times during my AF career. Volcanic and the runway is between two large volcanic hills. Pucker factor is always up as there isn't any margin for error. British own it as well. Great fishing and the Brits always had plenty of ice cold beer and great food for us Yanks when we had to stay over night...cr8crshr/Bill:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:
