car show gripes

Forgot to mention.
We donate to Charities. The Dodge dealer clears off some of their lot for us to use.
Show members get get ballots to vote on their favourite car. Ballots are counted and the top 10 get plaques, there isn’t a first second third etc. The show is over by 4:00PM. We also have ballots for the classes, which there is one winner. The President also picks a favourite car.
We also get a club like a community youths soccer club to sell burgers etc. They keep all of the profits.
Show is put on by volunteers.
Because of COVID we were not going to have a show, but Dodge City asked us to please park on their lot today, and tomorrow. They will be supplying things for draws.
This is the weekend were a large downtown all makes and vehicles show is put on by a radio station and other sponsors, usually about 700 vehicles. This year you send pictures of your car. Racing at SIR drag strip. Which our granddaughter is racing. There will be cruising down our 8th street. Different businesses are asking people to set up in their parking lots.
The car is not ready so we will be sitting somewhere watching the parade of cars.

Where in Canada do you get that many cars on a weekly basis?!?! Calling "bullshit" on this one !!

...and still climbing. Why I skipped the Goodguys show today. Yeah, I'm gonna drive a '71 Charger R/T with a built-for-the-strip 440 on the highway for 45 minutes in that. Thanks, California. At least I have the one in November to look forward to, since rainy season doesn't start until Thanksgiving anymore.

Car 'shows' have exploded. Every bar has a weekly or monthly show around my area. Not a day goes by where there aren’t a dozen shows ya could go to within a 30 mile radius. Cash cows I’d assume. There are those donating to charities and all fine; but a few shows my bud’s and I would attend for years having entry fees creep up. So…ya spent tons in cash and time to restore your ride and PAY to let others look at them – most without a spectator fee? Sorry, gets a tad irritating to find an increase in entry costs where it could be done to charge say just a lousy buck a head for spectators to spend a few hours to occupy their free time.

Nah – I don’t want another friggin coffee mug or t-shirt as part of the entry fee…and geezuz another dash plaque. SAVE those costs for the charity, if involved, or charge a lousy friggin buck or two for spectators and give ‘em a raffle ticket for dat ****. Some dad bringing his kids to a show can’t fork out like 3 bucks for a few hours of entertainment with the chance of winning some trinkets his kids would like? Oly chit! Some say they’re paying 50 bucks? Not around my area – yet. And those would be an automatic nada for me and some of my bud's cheaper asses than I am.

I've never been to one of those kinds of car shows.
My mom used to say I had a good size for a boy my age. She didn't see it after I was 5 or so so she had no idea of what it is like now.

The last time I was at a nude beach some dude with a foreign accent stuck a flag in mine and tried to claim it for Spain...
