So my radiator I had planned use on my 63 savoy isn't going to work. Going to use an electric puller fan ideally. I am looking for an affordable aftermarket aluminum unit. Not a ton of room with an RB engine. 5 1/2 inches between the radiator support and water pump, I believe? Will also use an external trans cooler. 615 hp street driven. Any recommendations? Thanks guys.

I had Wizard build one for my 65 Belvedere. I did set the engine back though.

Running this on a 440. Just got the engine
broke in. Runs @ 185.

I got the radiator from speedway motors.
They had quite a few to choose from.

A BeCool radiator with twin pusher fans keeps my blown big block cool

Thanks guys, I already have a puller fan I'd like to use, if possible. Looking at radiators at the moment. Engine is in stock location and I have about 6 inches for a radiator and fan.

I used a Champion in my '64 Polara and a home made fan shroud. Keeps the 440 running at 180* even in the Texas summer heat.

I had a 22" opening in my 62 savoy, I opened the core support to 26". I'm using a 26"hi efficiency core big block copper/brass Cordoba radiator, added two mounting holes, using the Cordoba shroud and a 17"flex fan. I have a trans cooler and a pusher in front for between rounds cooling. Run 170-180 in 90° california weather .

I sometimes wonder how much lighter an equivalent aluminum radiator is, compared to copper. I think most of the weight is the water inside.

With the hp level your'e at on the street you may want to consider a 26" with more coolant cap. and surface area even if you don't cut the core support ( i did) . I used a Cold Case from a 65' c body in my 64' Polara.

Yeah, that's what I'm looking at now. It will be a street/strip car.

How big and thick is the fan you are wanting to use?
Edit. With 615hp there is no way I would consider a 22" radiator.
I would get the widest, tallest radiator that will fit between the frame rails, and build a shroud/twin fan combo to cover as much core as possible, and offset the fans to clear the water pump.

Did you use a later k frame to move the engine back?. Super clean looking btw
Dan64,
This install is on a custom tube chassis designed
to fit the sheetmetal for a 1940 Plymouth
PT-105 pickup. (ref. "Anyone interested?) in
members restorations/rebuilds. Thanks much
for the compliment!

Yes, I saw your build thread for the truck, really nice build and looks like a fun project as well. I don't want to say this too loud on FBBO but i'm really way more of a hot rod/ mild custom guy then muscle car guy so your truck caught my eye.

I agree with a Wizard radiator and I have one for my 68 Barracuda but my fan is a front mounted pusher that cools very very well and its a street strip car with just shy of 1000 hp N/A
Yea, mine's a measly 765 but it is still a 22" radiator.
