I got sick of mowing around the kids clubhouse, they grew up and didn't use it so down it went but now I need to put up a new swing since it was attached. My kids being between 12-15 I want to step it up but how much is to much? Not wanting to mow around all the legs I bought a used sign pole, a 20 footer and a piece of schedule 40 pipe and poured 1 footer. It will be a huge T... Now how tall?

I dug it roughly 24" X 4' deep, 1,500 pounds of concrete and 1" studs lol.

I had an A frame engine pulling rig given to me about 10 years ago.

I've always wanted to set that up in the back yard as a swing set.

Should be just right for 2x real wood 2x8 swings.

Tricky part is mount/swivel on the horizontal, and making it be able to come out of the ground if needed to revert to an engine puller.

Put industrial locking wheels on it. If it's on the grass, the wheels will settle a bit and should stay in place and will still be movable with some help to get it to move initially. My help is my garden tractor....

You have any big trees with a over hanging branch, that would work well

12 and 15. Just remembering our kids at that age would have wanted to be off with friends instead of swinging at home. I would probably stick the swing money into your daughters project car....

My one boy enjoys swinging and hasn't let a week go by without asking for another, believe me I had zero intentions. The wife hasn't dropped it either, just checking off another box.

Mostly all Walnut around the yard except one huge Hickory but the first branch is probably even higher.

I can here them now, higher daddy
When we were kids my dad hung one from the ceiling of the barn, it had to be close to 20'.. man was it fun! The barn was about 40' wide and we'd be kicking the ceiling just shy of the wall, doesn't feel that high when your doing it.

We built a custom home for an eccentric woman in an exclusive area of CT. The plans called for a large room, with an exposed beam cathedral ceiling 2 stories+ tall. This room had 3 sides of full glass sliders with catwalks so they could be accessed to be opened and closed. It was very odd to all of us until the homeowner requested that we install a swing for 2 from the ridge beam.

Apparently the couple wanted an indoor swing for their dream home. Have to admit it was kinda cool but a huge waste of space.

Nothing fancy but we have one, it's just a rope though but probably around 20'.
