Welding in a K frame

I think he's just trying to get his post count up !!!

Hell, if you have to ask which rod to use you probably shouldn't be doing this!!

MIG, a stick on the k frame , sure , but the frame rails , I wouldn't touch them , they are thin and will crack later

It has very little to do with the rod. What you really need to worry about is the welded area ripping out.

Anyhow, you've got opinions. Knock yourself out !!

I think you should weld up the doors - our forefathers Luke and Bo thought of this so it must be right. Heck, why not weld up the trunk while your there, get rid of the backseat and trunk divider and after your missus has climbed out through the window she can just reach in and grab the groceries.

Already on that doing some plate on the back to keep them in.

oh , didn't know you were building a general lee , get you a bunch of plates and pipe and weld away

It's your car. I would not do it though. The mounting bolts are plenty strong for everything up to and including an "elephant". Unless your stabbing in a 1000HP twin turbo monster why bother?

Bottom line I dont like a K frame and will weld it strong.

One advantage to having it bolt in is being able to replace it. Damage can happen easily if you run into a curb, over substantial road debris, etc. I have never destroyed one personally, but I have bought a couple parts cars in the past where the K is wasted and the easy fix is to bolt another one in.

The K looks strong enough to take a good hit if that broke or bent really bad crash.
