Welding in a K frame

Yes... Since the K also has the lower suspension attached to it, you lose the ability to easily change a bent k frame. It happens. Seen plenty of lower control arm pin tubes knocked out as well.

Sometimes trying to make things better has bad consequences, IMO, this is one of those "just say no" moments.
Opinions are always welcome just doing what seems correct.

I don't see a dis advantage so far. Most cars don't have a removable K and there are up grades for these rubber mounts to poly mounts to solid so do not see how this will hurt at all.
Because Mopar did it right, there are replacement K memebers.
But its your car do what you want. Probably ought to weld the drive shaft to the yoke or the bumpers to the frame...

So after careful consideration not many think outside the box. The negative attitudes abound> just common sense. Humm a frame stiffener oh wait just buy a proper K to fit the motor and what if you wreck the car and mess up the k so you cant just buy one to bolt in. Answer is drive good know your machine. I will be the first one to say if this is a wrong thing to do. If I mess the K up all on me. Inside tells this is the way.

Ummm....sure....?????....
You want me to learn more??? Im not the one reinventing the wheel...a wheel that has been in use for 70 years without a problem.
You want to weld 50 year old steel to 50 year old steel that you have no idea of its condition internally??? You dont want to use the bolts that center your control arms, motor fore and aft????
Good luck!

Well welding 50 year old steel is always good rotted or not. Fore aft port starboard would not matter.

Triangles are your friend.
Spread the load.....
Gussets, Triangles, 220v or a 221v welder, whatever it takes.

Into the 6th page....wow lol. I've welded K frames.....up. IE, tack weld in several places 'on' the K and then cut off all that crappy pinch weld garbage and then solid weld the whole thing but have never welded one to the car itself. Just don't see any benefit from it unless the threads in the frame of the car are bad. Also, I've never dropped the engine and trans out through the bottom. Everything has always gone in from the top and never had a problem doing it that way. I also don't use those cherry pickers either but have used them before. Don't like em and especially so if the floor isn't good and smooth or has cracks.

Cranky this may be a new thing remember we have to kinda reinvent the wheel just think back in the day a 14 inch rim was good now a trailer tire is 15 rim lol. Cars have 24 inch rims so who is correct?

No vehicle of mine have 24's on it but hunted 15" wheels back in 1970 but the pickins were kinda slim for someone on a budget. Have one vehicle with 17's with 33" tires :D So, have you lost your bolts? Uh, K-frame bolts that is. If so, think I might have some extras laying around.
