Sad,Just Sad.

:realcrazy: Send them to (teachers tenured & unionized) school
buy them books or a car, (he doesn't or too lazy, to know how to air up tires ?)
& well, you should know :bananadance: all the rest :poke:

My first inclination would have been to help the well dressed lady and rip on the kid later but maybe I'M the one from a different time and upbringing.

Stuff like this is why I won’t buy a used vehicle, especially from a stranger. How many young people know to change the oil periodically, never mind knowing HOW to change the oil.
It took some reminding after my daughters moved out when it was easier for me to check their cars when they were home yet…to TAKE CARE of their cars. And I did teach them how to do this stuff. Aha…yeah – check fluids, tires, and change oil every 5k. And my oldest moving into the city with friggin horrible streets to avoid potholes. Well, she got some appreciation of this when she hit one ruining not only the tire; but the wheel and suspension damage. She was shocked by the repairs despite my finding a wheel for cheap from a boneyard. Some repairs/service I do saving them a ton of money when they’re visiting…I should charge for parts; but da softy old man most times won’t have them fork out.

Sometimes this has been due to them getting a quote for service or repairs that can wait (or unnecessary) they call me about. Change da cabin air filter for 180 bucks? Needed it yep, but $25 for the filters. I’ve mentioned “Hey take note of some of this stuff because dad won’t be around forever”.

help the well dressed lady
You are right, lately though people have a strange attitude. No one says "HI" anymore. When you do you get looked at like you are from outer space, or worse.
I have been scowled at, and even had people tell me to mind my own business.Maybe it's where I live, people are NOT friendly at all.Lastly even I hate to say it but I ain't touching anything that doesn't belong to me.This day and age people are SUE crazy. As I said above,Sad,Just Sad.

Nah. It's still pretty simple.

"May I be of assistance in any way?" gets a Yes, No or FO response. I can live with any of those.

I got a taste of ******* dipshit people some years ago and changed my ‘help’ urges. One time going back to work after lunch break, a lady with her kid in the backseat was broke down in her POS car. She was in a dangerous spot so I pushed her car into a nearby driveway to get it out of traffic. Determined she was likely out of gas. So went to a station a couple miles away and put a deposit on their gas can and paid for the gas. I returned putting the gas in and took off the air cleaner priming the carb to get it running. I noticed a hazardous condition with the linkage that I mentioned to her, asking if she had a husband or family member who was familiar with car repairs…

Well wdf…da flaming bitch starts accusing me of ******* up her beat ta **** car! Got-damn after all the hassle helping her, being way late getting back to work…I got REAL pissed; but kept it in check with her kid in the car. I set the gas can on the ground and told her she would receive the deposit back I paid for on it and the gas I also bought…was on me telling her, for her kid’s welfare have this looked at soon.

Another time I 'gifted' the person behind me at a mac's drive thru since the person ahead gifted me. My routine was just getting a coffee and pulling off to the side to dump it into my thermal mug as I headed to a client. Well the old lady ******* bitch drives by glaring at me like I might be a serial killer! NO smile, no wave, nothing...last time I gift...

Any bets on whether the kid can cook his own meal, make his bed, do his own laundry...... or be out of his mommy's house before thirty?

Hell, who knows, maybe mommy wants it that way. She's sure headed in that direction.
(Frankly, I'm surprised he can drive.)

Reminds me of the 'affluent' teenage kid that killed some people in a car crash when he was drunk and used the excuse in court that he was too pampered in life to be punished... Then he and his mom tried to hide in Mexico and got caught...

This kid's leading down that same path...

Kids on phones are not engaged with their surroundings.

THEEE problem with a whole lot of ‘kids’ IMO is to do with their parents, whether single parent or otherwise. We’re aware of the typical ‘stat’s’. Father and/or mother absentee, doing drugs, alcohol, ******* around NOT raising their offspring. Sometimes these kids are born by ‘accident’ in ***** drug/alcohol induced party time. Then there’s the crying mamas…”My boy was a good boy; he didn’t deserve to be shot by the bad police”. Really – ******* REALLY??? How come he had a gun, running around the streets at 2AM, already with a record of break-ins, etc.?

Someday if our authorities find a ******* clue (I’m not optimistic) – the parents of these skanks will be held accountable for their offspring’s bullshit! Hunt down the father and/or mother out partying around and put their skank asses in jail with their kids.

I think post #1 belongs in the "You reap what you sow" file. That kid is in for a very rude awakening someday.

I was actually impressed that the well dressed was able to air up the tires!
