What did you have for an oil system to run at 7,000 rpm?
What did you have for an oil system to run at 7,000 rpm?
Looks like the valvetrain guy knew what he was doing
"One street build got prepped RPM heads"
Motor guy say should be making 400 hp.
It takes a pretty good combo to make 400hp from a stock stroke 383 with ex manifolds on it.
Any dyno sheets from your test you could post?
My first serious 383 was somewhat similar in results, however it had more to the build.. 12.4 cr .585 comp, and warmed up 906s. I had speculated it to be in the 520-540 range. My bracket build went a best of 11.26@119 in my 3670lb race weight 68 Satellite.
Flat good, battery up front, electric w/p, mechanical fuel pump with the Oe 5/16” fuel line.
8” converter, 4.56’s, 9 x 30 radial slicks, cal tracs, open headers.
Typical ET’s around that time were low 11.40’s. 60’ times in the low/mid-1.50’s(best of 1.51).
Heads flowed in the low 230’s.
Was the 11.26 with the oxygenated fuel and carb spacer, do you know what the heads flowed through the mani, what pistons, comp and cam lift.My bracket build went a best of 11.26@119 in my 3670lb race weight 68 Satellite.

What size carb were you using?Cam is .567/.582 gross lift on the card.
Isky rockers, never checked for actual ratio or measured lift at the valve, .024 lash.
A 1/2” spacer is all that would fit under the hood, non-oxygenated fuel mix(2 gals 110 to 5 gals pump 93), CR about 10.6:1.
TRW L2315’s, fly cut in the motor using the Isky tools.
Heads flowed mid-230’s with a radius plate...... never flowed with the intake on, but it would def be less.
Hey Dwayne, it's Todd that looks like my 383 you freshened up back in 2013, I remember the numbers 470 torque and 492 horsepower! It ran awesome but only with 410 gears or lower! Lol
Awesome ET! What heads were you running, and did you tweak them?I never dyno'd my old 383 in my 72 Dart but the car ran a best of 12.31 @110 and it was a pretty mild build.
It was a stock bottom end I rebuilt and I used the old MP .484 cam on a 104 centerline with all stock non adjustable rockers. Bolted the Eddy RPM intake on and a 750 Holley DP. Headers and 2.5" exh. Used a stock Mopar electronic dist I recurved and it had 3.91 gears in the 8-3/4. Trans was basically stock with a reverse manual valve body and a Turbo Action tight 3000 converter. The car weighed 3640 with my 180 in it. I never ran the numbers but my guess was it was making around 400 flywheel hp and maybe 325 at the wheels to run 12.30's @ 110. It actually ran pretty good for how mild it was as all my friends thought it would run mid 13's but when my first ever pass was 12.49 @ 109 on G-60 McCreary tires they changed their minds about it.
