I know nothing about ABS, especially the early ones, not sure what's going on, when you turn on the key, ABS unit hums, which is normal i think, but, occasionally, it sound like plastic gears tearing? hard brake pedal, very little brakes to stop car, enough I wont drive it.

I have been told the ABS was an option for the car ( 92 Le Baron ) , anyone know how to convert to reg brakes or diagnose problem.

the car is HEAVILY modified, no longer a v-6 FWD, now a 365cid RWD, aftermarket master cylinder, disc brakes all around, but still has the ABS system..

this is the ABS unit

Pull all the abs stuff off and hang a normal master and plumb it in.

Ditch that system!! I have an '89 TC with that system and I'm gonna swap it out. The ball you see is an accumulator that holds pressure for the brakes and releases it when the brakes are applied. A pump supplies the pressure to the ball, but when the ball goes bad the pump runs almost constantly and braking response sucks.

best I remember. the accumulator failures were common back then and will cause the hard pedal and no brakes.

How did the builder convert the car to V8 and RWD and still manage to keep the ABS functional ????? . even better question ,,,is WHY ?

Loose it and convert to normal and move on

EDIT ---- I just remembered that system was also very common to have seal issues on the internal piston. They were a white nylon type seal.
I would be surprised if repair parts were even still avail

thanks all, not sure what you mean when you say replace master cyc with a normal one .. as you can see master cyc has been upgraded, no room to put a booster behind it, it has to be a remote unit like this one.. why the ABS system is still on it.. i have NO idea.. I did bypass the line lock to see if it was bad, plus I cannot find the switch for the line lock !

Just get all the abs and that master out of there and mount one of these without a booster.
