Hello,

I am searching for a new oil pan on my 1973 Charger with swapped 383 (the 400/440 oil pan will also fit). after days of search… I will now know that the 971 oil pan is the correct one but still no longer available.

Can someone recommend an alternative to me that will fit on 73-74 B-Body with big K-Frame.

Regards Marco

440source got a repro pan, not stamped buy it works as far has been told. Is pretty much the same 971 pan but without the stamping.

They were available with the stamping, BUT dunno why not anymore since some years ago.

I think the 187 pan is really close to the 971

If you really need six inches from the front of the pan to the start of the sump, that is VERY unusual for a Mopar big block pan . It makes me think your swapped in big block is not in a standard location.
My suggestion would be to look for a pan for a 62-65 b-body. They have the engine/trans farther forward than the 66-up, due to k-member changes. Therfore with the engine forward, the sump has to be farther rearward to clear. My 62 440 has a milodon 30930 that clears fine.
If neither the milodon nor moroso fit, you probably will have to modify the pan, cut and re-weld the sump, or cut some on the k-member. Both have been done before.

i has bought it, but it only has 5 inch where the Sump begin. I think at the moment there is no standard version available and I need to use modified one, like the Moroso

I've got this pan in my 73 440 runner, and it fits perfectly.
