trans getting stuck

Just a random question for my own education. Looked at a 63 Fury with 727 and after driving it you couldn't get it out of park, let it cool down 20 mins and then buttons functioned again, does it every time after it's warmed. They say cable is getting stuck due to heat. I'm not buying it (the car) just wanted to hear experienced opinions

Overfilled fluid will cause this. I did it to my car when I was a teenager. ('65 Coronet)

The housings are plastic and if they melt against the exhaust they will stick

Take a good look at the park cable and see if its partially melted.
