Can anyone tell me what this cut out on this 79 cordoba cluster is for?
I'm eventually putting this cluster in my 78 magnum. Thanks in advance, Tony.

I'd guess maybe for a power antenna switch? I know there was a relay to automatically raise and lower the antenna on the 1979's at least when the radio was turned on/off. Other models/radios may not of had that automatic feature. Got a pic of the back side where its cut out?

I could, but it's just flat plastic there. Nothing to see really. It's just cut out as you see it.

I was trying to determine if the hole was cut or molded into the part itself.

There is a vent there that showed up on some 79 models. I couldn't tell you what is really does but there is a hose that hooks into the HVAC under the dash. Not sure if it was part of the auto temp controls or not. I've only seen it a couple of times.

That's interesting! I would have never figured that out. I'll be filling in that hole before installing it. Thanks!

Just a SWAG as I have absolutely no idea biased on experience but could it be for something like seat belt light? If it is a vent then perhaps it was an attempt to reduce condensation in the instrument cluster.

I see you have the factory tachometer -- could you post some pics of the backside of the instrument cluster?
Interested to see what PCB you have and the wiring arrangement. Thanks!

I'll post a picture of the back of the cluster when I'm back in town. Probably Sunday evening.

Here's a picture of the 1979 cordoba circuit board. Let me know if you need any more?

Mine has the auto temp feature and that seems to be some kind of sensor for it. At least, mine looks like it's serving a purpose and it's the only Cordoba I've had with the fancy temperature controls.

All newer cars have a "temp sensor" so the auto climate knows what temp the cabin is to adjust heat.
Stands to reason that's what that hole is for.
The newer sensors look like a little resistor of sorts.

I didn't see anyone post this, but it's for the ATC, automatic temp control, offered for the 1st time in '79. I have a spare cluster with the hose still attached. TonyTee, PM me please.
