I'm sure @Joeychgo and company have done a stellar job of getting us back online in a dependable and safe manner.
It's what they do after all, so I reckon they know what's up with all that...
I'm also sure all the slowness at times since we've been back + the upload speed dragging at other times is just growing pains.

However...

Sometimes when such events occur on websites, permanent data loss can occur, never to be retrieved (due to corrupted this or crashed that). In FBBO's case, that could mean anyone's pictures, threads, anything you have saved on here may be jeopardized.

Odds are mighty slim I'm sure - but it's possible.
Here's where my advice comes in - for safety's sake, if you have anything saved on this website that you cannot bear to lose, have no duplicate of saved elsewhere, or have favorited posts or garages on here without backups on your own devices, NOW would
be a good time to download copies of them to your own form of storage!

Hard drive on your PC, flash drives, whatever you like to store things on - get copies of whatever is on here you don't want to lose and get it downloaded to your own stuff.
Can't be too safe about such things, after all.
Boo boos happen. Equipment fails. ISP's lose their minds. All manner of whatever could
occur - again, so better safe than sorry. :)

This is all well an fine and I see where you are coming from. But bottom line is this is a business and we are the customers. It is not up to the customers to be responsible for the data on the website. Whether the site is hosted at a hosting provider or in Joey's basement there should be current and tested backups of both the database and the server itself which is likely virtual. Yes hardware fails but once back up and running the admin should be able to restore to the point of failure with no data loss.

I think at least hope the data all returns. All of my data is back over on FABO so hopefully it will return here as well. If not it’s not a huge loss.

Oh Lordy, MN Gold thread please still be there

Hey, I'm Easy! It's 9-11 and we all have alot to be thankful for. I'm just glad we can go to aplace
and talk about our cars without ending up on the 10-O'clock news!

**** happens. I was doing server maintenance one time and cleaning up old user accounts. Ran a command that should have taken a few seconds at most. It kept running and it was one of those "Oh ****!" moments. Well, i managed to completely delete about 100 customer business websites within the span of about 30 seconds. That wasn't easy news to break to the boss! Luckily we had good backups and i got it all restored within a few hours.

rm -r * will do that!

The only original content is our messages. Everything else gets uploaded from somewhere else. All my images are on my PC and backed up on my server. All the links I post are still on the internet where I found them.

There's only a few threads on FBBO and the other forums that cannot be duplicated. Member's build threads, for example.

I run my own drafting business on a CADD program and have had server issues before.
I run backups on everything on my computer even down to my desktop configuration and websites I frequent.
Best advice I can give is to have anything you put on this site backed up if not for yourself but everyone here.

I don't post important stuff that I have to worry about it getting lost, I cover that **** way before I post something so I never have to! People make their own **** happen, no one else!!

Actually, it wasn't a hardware failure. It was a software failure that compromised the last backups. We're still trying to get things back but we had to go back about 10 days to get a clean backup.

Yep, that'll do it. If i remember correctly i was using "deluser --remove-all-files --force" and running that through a loop of usernames trying to be cute and get my work done faster. Didn't work so well because i evidently had a username in my list that owned the website files directory. Oops!

Thanks for what you do to allow us to continue enjoying this site.

All your efforts are appreciated, of course.
Are the weird little intermittent glitchy behaviors seen since we've been back going to clear up at some point?
(Can't Like/Agree on posts, slow pic uploads, page refresh interrupts, etc.)

The like button has worked for me most of the time but here’s what I got trying to like the post I took a screen shot of.

I'm happy for you.
Nonetheless, all I wrote is occurring and not just with me (see post directly above).
Usually, I have to log out, go to log back in, accept cookies again for whatever reason, then log in.
Things become more operational then.

Even though I'm gold for a while longer, I also run AdGuard...
