What the hell is up with these companies and their endless demands for setting up a portal, an online account and requiring a long detailed specialized impossible to remember passwords?!!
I tried to order some pre-mix salt packets for my sinus rinse from neilmed but they require all of my personal information including a long complicated password to set up an online account before I could order anything. And you can't buy anything from them without an account. What the **** do they think I'm going to do with "sinus rinse"?
Needless to say I did not order from them. But this seems to be an ever increasing trend with most online companies.

So your account doesn't get hacked.

I've heard this complaint a few times before mainly from my senior friends. I recommend they do the following to keep it simple and easy to remember...most sites want you to create a password that has a mix of upper case, numbers and symbols. Take your main password that you use and make the first letter a capital. At the end of your password add a 1 and a #

Obviously the 'experts' recommend changing your password every so often but I can't remember **** anymore so forget that.

Google is your friend here.
If you have a google account and use Chrome then Google will suggest an automatic password, store it for you and you can view and monitor all your stored passwords.
Much easier than a notebook.
I have CRS as well (Can't Remember Shit)

The easiest way to remember a complex password is to use a phrase. Type it out as a sentence. It will have uppercase, lowercase, spaces, and punctuation. If they insist on a number too throw a 1 on the end.

This is my stupid new password!1

I agree, password managers can be a great tool. I use Bitwarden, its free and integrates with all browsers and has a phone and windows app.

They may think that you'll use it for a enema rinse, and then wind up sneezing out your ***? IDK? Look at what people have done with Tide pods!

The claim is that DDG, unlike the other search engines, does not track your usage. All of the others do.

I don’t know if you remember a few years back... Apple said it refused to let the FBI crack an iPhone 5. Edward Snowden said that was bull. :D

This my opinion, they sell the info. They may say they don't but.... an employee could put it on a flash driver. Make a few bucks? Hate giving a ton of info for simple purchase!

In this new insanity ridden age, I don't believe these new requirements are to protect you but rather to sell you something. There is so much info out there on all of us that the ad folks want to hit you with a slew of custom tailored pop ups where ever you are when on line. The thing that floors me the most, besides the onslaught of more screen bullshit, is they put adds up for the very thing you just bought, as if you you are going to buy another one right away. I try to make it a point to not buy anything from these invasive a-holes who just don't get it at all! I recently found I could not buy anything on line from The Home Depot without first creating said account crap. I did so and what I ordered didn't arrive so I cancelled & ordered from Lowe's instead and got what I needed without that BS account requirement!
Here's one for you ad scumbags!

Not sure what browser you use but you could download Firefox and then install Ublock Origin adblocker. Say bye bye to all those ads and have a nice fast browsing experience.

I use Firefox as my default browser. I also have an adblocker which is fine, However, some sites like (weather.com) won't load when you use an adblocker. I also can't read an online Mopar magazine in my AOL email due to the adblocker. Trying to disable & reenable it again is a pain in the ars!

Post #8 reflects my giving you the RedX. Not meant to a personal reply either but the fact that Google is very much the equal to FB and Twit in their unscrupulous ways. I prefer making up my own passwords using various phrases and combinations of various ideas I am currently living through. Most come out very strong even though at times my CRS gets way too active. So I then keep a thumb drive or drive unit for passwords and various other important stuff, on Excel sheets, off of my everyday computer. Need to remember something then I just go there and find it. Also use them when updating or changing passwords, etc. The thing I am starting to get annoyed at, are the 2 and sometimes 3 authenticate steps a lot of sites are using and requiring/employing. Finally the real Pain In The *** is more and more, sites and companies are constantly asking to provide them with a cell/mobile number so that the can text you should the need to arise or for authentication. I do have one but I'll be damned if I will be tethered to one as I do not like the fact that I am being required and forced to get one. I hardly ever carry it with me unless I am traveling or need the drive maps to destination, etc. and for emergencies. When asked for my number, I tell them I don't have one or carry one with me and the Deer in the Headlights looks say it all. Then when asked why not as everyone else does, I reply I am not like everyone else so therefore I don't do so. Again the Deer in the Headlights look so I just walk away. Cell phones to me are a total waste and should have never been invented. Too many are so reliant on them that it is a wonder anything these days gets accomplished...cr8crshr/Bill:screwy::screwy::screwy::usflag::usflag::usflag:

Adblocker is a good way to stop all that...cr8crshr/Bill:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:

Some sites will detect you're running an adblocker and punish you by breaking the site. Uninstall your current adblocker and install Ublock Origin. It will let you disable the adblocker per site and it works on weather.com. Don't know about AOL.

My bank does this with me too.
Probably every 5 or 6 months or so, they require me to change my pass code, wither i like it or not.
So what i have been doing for the past 3 or 4 requests, is just change one number in my code to the next higher one.
So far so good, haven't run into a problem.
