What would this carb have been on from new?

Checking records shows this as a Mopar application as a CARTER 9636S with an electric choke. These are Edelbrock manufactured (aka "Eddy's" by some people who can't spell Edelbrock) under licence by Weber, and rated st 625 CFM.

Thank You
However! I knew that. I need to know what car they came on and what year.

It was aftermarket.

Rather than using an aftermarket carb, why not use an origional Carter AVS (or AFB depending on the year) or a Holley, again depending on year and engine. You did not say what car/engine/year you were considering and the intended use. There is nothing magical about an Edelbrock (Eddy)/Weber carb as being able to tune it compared to an origional Carter AVS or AFB, or Holley. Rebuild kits snd miscellaneous pieces and parts are available from several on line suppliers should they be required or use an online restoration company such as those that advertise on the forum. IMO....nothing beats the origional equipment.... just my opinion of course.

A neighbor is trying to sell me the one he has.
I am not looking to put it on any engine. If it was for a HEMI it would be worth a lot, if a everyday over the counter 4V then not worth what he is asking. My question was. What would this carb have been on from new?
I know it is not for a HEMI, just an example.

Chrysler did not use a electric choke until the mid/late 80's.Around 1984 Carter went out of business,Chrysler switched to the Rochester Quadrajet. All Carter carbs that Chrysler used had divorced chokes..
Since we are talking performance Chrysler vehicles mostly on here, you would find the Carter AFB from about 1962 up to around 1968 when Chrysler went to the up-dated Carter AVS.The largest was a 750 on the 440 375 HP cars.Smog area cars 71-up (some used Holley's)started using the Carter Thermoquad spread bore.
As Toolman and RJRENTON stated the 9636S is a replacement aftermarket.
I hope this helps.
Good Used Carter/Edelbrock usually sell between $100-$200.

I have bought 2 of those carbs in the last few years at swap meets, brought them home, bolted them on, and with a couple minor adjustments, drove away. $100 each.

I am a Holley guy for my carb's. Simple to work on and have always been able to rebuild them. Part's are kind of pricey but you get what you pay for. Have a BG on my 383 runner. Replaced the nitrate floats with the brass one's. So the new fuel dose not eat the coating off the floats. Not a double pumper and works fine. 650 CFM wanted to get some gas millage. LOL.
