Some of us get so attached to our critters. Yes, me too. I really consider myself fortunate to have the bond. But as we all know, it is so, so hard to say goodbye.
I still occasionally shed a tear for a great dog I had in my life so many years ago.
I week for the loss of a good horse, but they just aren't the same.

My late, great Black Mouth Cur, Rolene. She was 9-1/2 when she passed from liver cancer in July. We had her for 7-1/2 years. She was a rescue dog, having survived the May 13, 2013 tornado in Moore, Oklahoma. A truly lovely dog, very protective, and smart as all get out! She rarely barked, but loved to howl when she wanted attention. A bark indicated someone or something was outside and needed prompt attention! A cat, a raccoon, or maybe a leaf. Either way, we needed to know!
My current dog is a rescue from the used dog store (aka the pound!). She is a Boxer-Mastiff mix named Ruby. She is two-years old; and at 89#, she is still a giant puppy! She is quiet and loves to nap. Ruby thinks she is a lap dog, really! If I'm on the couch watching videos, she jumps right up and lays her fifty-pound head in my lap! When she barks, the walls shake! She loves bugs. Plays with them. Then eats them! She seems to prefer grasshoppers, a good source of protein. The glowing-eyes pic is now her Halloween photo!

We just adopted a 2 year old boxer in June. We lost our Mopar in March. He was an 8 1/2 year old boxer we had since 8 weeks old. He developed a neurological disorder that took him down in literally 3 months. Went from a healthy 76 lbs. powerhouse to not hardly being able to stand. There was nothing they could do. He went to sleep in my arms just as he had done most of his life. Still think about him everyday.

A dog is really mans best friend ... I miss both of my Labs. My youngest is allergic to them.. he asked for one many times and I haven’t caved in even though I soo miss my labs.. I had a rescue and farm dog and loved them both.. I just can’t replace what I had I feel and I’m worried about my youngest as he gets pretty miserable after a short time around them and has to have medicine to control his sneezing and watering eyes.. Love a lab! Or any that you like.
