Hey everyone. I've been struggling to do work on my car over the last few years due to covid and travel restrictions that were in place over the last 2 years. This project started as an engine swap from a 318 to a 440 but progressed into a cutting/welding/painting project. I cleaned years of old underseal from the bottom of the car which seemed like a great idea until I started it and then realised how tough a job it was. Let's just say I never want to do it again but after cleaning and rust removal by process of cutting and welding which is never great fun the car was given a few coats of epoxy primer followed by some raptor liner in white. I know it might not be to everyone's taste but I just like the clean look.

So just incase people are wondering about what travel restrictions I'm based in Ireland and a lot of the last 2 years have been restricted to essential journeys only and my car is in storage 30mins away from where I live. I let my engine out a machine shop to get a .030 bore done only to be given the long finger for 4 months. I picked the engine up as the guy was actually using it as a door stop so now it has gone to another gent that was extremely excited to work on such a motor. So as I wait to get it back I decided to give the motors home a freshen up. I sandblasted the bay followed by a few coats of epoxy primer covered with starfire pearl white. I had never painted pearl before and this was a serious learning experience for myself.

Have to give PST a shout out here. Bought their 1.03 torsion bars, Upper control arms, billet steel tie rod adjusters and deluxe lower control arm rebuild kit. Had a slight issue getting the parts which was due to the wonderful customs and revenue company here in ireland but PST were extremely kind and helpful helping me resolving the problem. I highly recommend PST as the parts were 100% awesome and look forward to purchasing some more items from them in future

Well, I just have to say: WOW! I know how much work that entailed and it looks great. I used Raptor too and it's really easy. The engine compartment is fabulous and I'll bet your engine will match. Keep the pictures coming.
Mike

Thanks applying the raptor was messy but easy. The hardest part was cleaning the underside of years of old bitumen based underseal.

I'm also trying to find information about my car. Apparently it was purchased in the 90's in ohio and made its way to kentucky where it was purchased in 2006 and made its way to ireland from there. Can a vehicles history be traced in the U.S. using the vin number?

Very nice, you make it look easy. Maybe you have posted it before and I missed it, but is your car an original Mod Top with the floral pattern?

Yes sir. It most certainly is. Mod vinyl top with mod interior. At some stage someone redid the seat vinyl but didn't install mod vinyl but the door cards are still original mod material.

You do great, patient work!

And owning a mod top is on my bucket list - very cool!

Thanks. I never thought I could ever afford to own a mopar especially living here in ireland but thankfully I've owned this bad boy for the last 6 years and it is by far the coolest and most fun car I've ever owned

A guy in the apartment building next to me when I was in my early 20s, had a 70 cuda 383 with a mod top in brown. Wish I could go back in time. He had a GTX too, also a 70.
I really like the mod tops. I think that and gator grain were the 2 coolest options they offered. Congrats. That pearl looks fantastic.

Thanks. I'm still up in the air about the pearl. Looks better than a solid white but I'm wondering if it's too modern of a white for the car. I'll be painting the exterior next year. Sure if I don't like it I can paint it again

I think a white car is understated and a car of color is overstated.

Cool car. Our’s is number 39. You can update with your more current information. Our car was already in the registry so we updated with more up to date pictures and information.

Tracing history of a car in the states is not good. If you know any history your doing good. By vin number may tell where it was made. But DMV dose not keep record's for ever. Best way to remove that under coating was a putty knife with a heat gun keeping the blade hot and scrape and more scraping. You did a grate job. The pearl would make the car look good. Don't think it would hurt the value. Sorry to here about the motor shop not getting too your motor. Don't know what is wrong with some shop's. So you are doing a good job and keep up the work. Blue.

I tried heat, scraping, shouting at it and the only thing that moved it was tar and glue remover. It was a messy job but when it was off I went over the whole bottom with a small shot blaster before painting. Dirty job but well worth doing

That is a cool car. Looks extremely clean. I may get in contact with them to update the car and send on a few more photos to them
