Restoring 69 road runner. Plain Jane only opp on fender tag is Drip rail molding. Going with 15 x 7 steels and dog dishes. Do I powder coat gloss black or paint mist green like car. This is a numbers matching car with 76xxx original miles. Trying to stay close to stock. Black wall tires or redlines. Any comments or sugestions.

Mist green. Sucker for the body color wheels.

A12s had black wheels with chrome lugs, no caps. Everything else that didn't have an optional wheel or full wheel cover had body color wheels, and poverty caps.
Tires were blackwall, whitewall, or redlines. All Goodyear, I think. Maybe depends on assembly plant.
Edit: Hemi cars and A12s got 15" wheels. Everything else got 14s.
2nd edit: redlines look great on a green car, but they are a big bite of the budget.

" Any comments or sugestions." Ok, you asked. Put a set of mags on with Mickey Thompson tires, like we all did back in the day. Nobody drove around with hub caps on their cars back then.

Body color on the wheels. Whichever tire you can afford.

Body color if you want it to look day one, black if you want a little attitude, which is my choice.

Thanks guy's. Not any closer to a decision but l respect your opinions. Might have to have two sets of wheels. Chrome and painted. It's a hard choice for me. I want the original look. Like I said this is a no frills car. As close to plain as u can get. I know that on the dealership it had plain black wheels and no hubs. I like the dog dish old school look. They were a poor man's bling.

I have nothing to say on the subject

Those look great. Same Dog Dish hubs. What tire sizes. I think I am going 225 70 r15 s or 235s 7 inch rims.

Hemi cars had F70x15 on 15x6. Equivalent today is 215s. The Sixpack cars had G70x15 on 15x6 black wheels, 225s today, no matter body color. Your 383 would have had green 14"wheels and caps.
Of course, you can put anything you want on it, it's your car!

If after an oe look with the small beenie hubcaps. The wheel was body color.
Makes no difference if it was 14 or 15"

UNLESS it was an A12 car. They were black wheels regardless of body color
