Originating in Central Florida. Entire State. 2 weeks. Avoid highways. Also, where to base a 2-3 night Savanah trip with safe/free parking. Old couple. White car. Florida tags. Radar. Don’t have to do the Altamonte Pass or Tehachapi to get home for a change. First time there. Thanks.

Just watch out for speed traps... Those are some small towns. Lumber City is in the middle of nowhere. I've been through there once a few years ago it was foggy as hell 5 in the morning. Couldn't see **** until I was on top of a cop sitting on the side of the road. Good thing I couldn't see it made me drive slower than normal..

Our time in Georgia in June was an eye opener. We were in Atlanta, Alpharetta and Senoia. We took a tour of "The Walking Dead" filming sites. Absolutely beautiful scenery there. Green grass, trees, NO homeless camps anywhere. Tennessee was about the same.

So we won’t “feel at home there…

Our trip was primarily a business thing for Mary but we extended it to include some boots on the ground type sightseeing for retirement property. Georgia and Tennessee in the early summer was beautiful and the humidity was tolerable.
I get angry and disgusted every time I drive by a tent city. I have grown tired of the brown grass 8 months of the year here too. The green back there is amazing.

You apparently never made it to I-85 an I-20 interchange... North of Atlanta awesome,West of Atlanta Very decent and where I live. South of Atlanta decent. Way south Georgia largely farming cotton, peanuts and stuff like that. East of Atlanta don't bother. I would stick with North,West some South but stay out of places like Covington,Conyers Rockdale County.. Even though Covington was where they filmed the first 4 or 5 episodes of the Dukes there. Pass through visit the Boars nest, yes its still there now a church though.

Here are some of the Urban Campers... Not nearly as bad as California and Arizona but this **** is year round here. Its hard for me to say this but.. I have seen 2 grown *** naked black dudes at 2 different parts of Atlanta in my years of doing electrical work and traveling around. That's 2 too many naked dudes for anyone to have to see. One was a dude rolling around in a gravel driveway outside of a business. Guess where? Conyers...

The other black dude was under an overpass right on the side of I-285 which is the loop around Atlanta. That dude was waving down cars and ****. This would be the South side of Atlanta.

Fantastic Museum. SR-71 out there. Loved it every time I went.

Plus a U-2... And many other aircraft... We have a SR-71 here at Castle AFB but Castle gets zero dollars for maintenance & it shows... California has no pride in their Military, Warner Robins displays show the locals pride & care...

I've been to Dayton/Wright-Patterson... It's huge, and they do have better funding by far vs Castle but I felt Warner Robins was better maintained...

If you happen to go up I-95 There is the Mighty 8th museum. I stopped there one trip to Hilton Head but they were closed for a ceremony. Didn't get to go in. Also the Moody Airbase down in south Georgia is the home of the Flying Tigers. Pretty cool historical places around Georgia to visit. They did have a B1 bomber out there at Warner Robbins the last time I went there. It has been a few years. Out in front of Dobbins airbase, or NAS Atlanta they have a B-29 static display right on the side of the road. They built a small museum there too. Have not been to it yet. They also build the F-22's there.. Or should I say built.

Unfortunately I don't get allot of free time in the Atlanta area very often... I typically fly in, work in a plant for a few days & fly home... On a couple occasions I've flown in & the plant I'm supposed to work in had some other equipment go down which becomes a higher priority than my updates so I get paid to leave.... And I spend my extra time investigating the area... What I have seen I like, most Southern states still seem to have local pride...

I was out there in Katy but didnt get to roll around too much. We were there to do a complete L.E.D conversion to an 26 building apartment complex. Also did all of the parking lot lights I think 100 of them. Did all 26 buildings in a week. Changed all of the common area lighting to LED's so it was work, sleep, work, sleep not much time for anything else. On my last trip out there me and my co-worker drove 12 hours straight at 90 the whole way home. Got scared a little in Louisiana when he was driving. Had 3 State patrols right behind us I tell him hey look behind us. He says oh **** and hits the blinker and we get over. All 3 state boys blew past us like we were doing 30 mph. That was on I-10 I guess they had bigger fish to fry that day. lol

Did you get any BBQ? If your in Texas you must get BBQ.... I was in Austin from the 12th-17th had BBQ four times... Tex Mex three times & Cajun style once....

We went to Whataburger they aren't out here in Georgia like I said it was work, sleep, work didn't get around. It was mostly fast food didn't have time to sit down and enjoy anything. Kinda like when we went to Maryland they had White Castles there so we went there because we don't have them here. We have Krystals sort of like White Castles.
