May all be well! I want to replace the Front and Rear Wheel Bearings and Seals and I’m looking for suggestions. I’m thinking SKF, so let me know what your thoughts are! (11” brakes) Thanks!
Alright, I’m with you.. would prefer American-made! I’d really appreciate some suggestions, based on quality, experience, service life, and the like! Thanks! So long as they are not made in China.....or any other brand of bearings

I've use many different name brand bearings that were manufactured in just about all the major countries including S. Korea and they were all nice looking quality and never had anything come back due to bearing failure....but the bearings from China look like crap and I just won't use them....at least when I'm the one buying the parts. I've been building 8 3/4 and Dana 60's for a good number of years and generally try for Timkens but have used a little bit of all of the major brands too.Alright, I’m with you.. would prefer American-made! Thank You Bob! Don’t really know why Timken slipped my mind, because I’ve used them in the past.. could be because I haven’t had to purchase bearings in 30 years Anyway, appreciate the info.. just one more reason I belong to FBBO! Thanks Again!IMO....USUALLY Timken Tapered bearings are the gold seal bearing to use.....but consider the SKF or BOWER/BCA for Bearing Corporation of America, now part of NTN offerings. They offer just about all types of anti-friction bearings from tapered to cylindrical to ball to roller to duplex angular contact types to caged needle roller design....and if you look hard enough you'll probably find info about "Green Bearings"....but that's another topic for another time....

All you've ever wanted to know about bearings....or not....

Thanks Cranky! I appreciate your reply! I’m pretty sure you covered everything concerning my bearing inquiry. Timken’s seem to be the consensus, and I’ve used them before, so that’s what I’ll go with! Several years ago a guy I knew brought me two 8 3/4 3rd members to rebuild and he had all the parts including bearings....China made bearings and they looked like crap. Real sharp edges and what appeared to be a lousy finish to the rollers. He was planning on selling them and well, told him how I felt about the bearings but he said that was all he had and that's when I told him not to associate my name with the rebuilds. Never heard anymore from him but he passed on a few years later so unless he did associate my name to them I will have to assume they are still rolling.
Never had a problem with Koyo bearings.....except for the name reminds me of a Yoyo but never had a bad one of those either lol. Koyo is a Japanese company, right? Well, much better than a Shinese made product imo. In the late 60's and early 70's I thought very little of products made in Japan but....they proved to be high quality and not real expensive even back then. China crap on the other hand is pretty much cheap and crappy. I know they know how to make good products and I have some but American businesses want as cheap as possible to make the highest margin dollar wise and so, we as a consumer, pay the price for crap. Without getting political about this, I'll stop now.So many times the numbers get superseded. Just follow the trail.
Don't be surprised if your Timken box has a Koyo bearing in it. Something about Koyo buying out Timken? Been this way for awhile but I've always received Timkens in a Timken box until recently. Does say USA on it.

Then the ones I just removed had KOYO USA and JAPAN on them.

The differential rebuild kit I bought does have all Timkens/USA.
