I see that some cam bolts sold offer 2-1/4 degree camber / caster adjustment.
Do they actually increase the range of adjustment available for camber and caster? Are they worth the trouble? Or just stick with the originals?
 
Moog makes offset upper control arm bushings that give you extra adjustment if that is what you are referring to?
 
Can you post a link to the bolts. Not sure I’ve seen them. I guess in theory they could give a bit more adjustment if the openings in the a-arm attachment points are large enough to accept the larger bolt swing.
 
I was interested in the cam bolts the original poster was asking about.
I am as well. Can't say I have ever saw bolts with more adjustment built in, or how they would work. Aren't they limited by the stops?
 
The bolt cannot give you more of anything, the areas that guide/regulate the cams are only so big and if you were to use more elongated cam plates I don't think you get enough adjustment to make it worthwhile plus you would be fighting the stock bushing, but then again who knows.
 
I have never checked but I would think the factory range would be close to 2 degrees of camber.

Just trying to achieve some reasonable positive caster. Have re-bushed and ball jointed all of front end before and left side has had trouble getting enough caster. However, I have had problems that I am now resolving with worn LCA pivot shafts. Also, I will thoroughly check the LCA and radius rod both sides to make sure that everything is equal side to side. Just saw these cam bolts supposedly offering more adjustment and wasn't convinced. I agree with other posts that the limit really is the slides that the cam bolts operate in, and I cannot see any more opportunity there. I will post the link on an earlier post.

Those cam bolts do not increase the range. The slots in the body where the UCAs mount are what determines the range of adjustment.

Here is a screen shot of what I have seen. However, digging a bit deeper the claims seem to be overstated. For example if you go to the Moog K8243A part number it then only talks about 1-1/8 degrees, which is really very much the same as the others. So sorry all, a false lead.

As per above, after thinking about it a bit more, I agree with your view.

Have to agree with using 4 offset bushings versus 2. I put two in rear points of my 67 and got OK caster settings (I would have to look at my notes but I think around 1.75 deg) with slight negative camber - nothing special.
 
Ride height is very important when trying to achieve proper alignment angles. If your ride height is low you will not get the positive caster you desire without adding after market bushings or control arms. One other thing to remember is power steering, if you do not have power steering, the more positive caster you have will make low speed steering harder.

So you are saying to double up on the eccentric cam washers? I am trying to understand the concept here, I guess having 2 will provide more surface contact area (strength) which is worth it as I have stripped some of the new/cheaper ones out.

No, I use 2 of the Moog offset bushings on each side of the car. One pointed out and the other in. In the Moog instructions, they say to only use one per side, I believe the rear.
 
You can also get creative and pull the lower control arm fwd via changing strut rod length. Ie. Adjustable strut rods
