I want it to be black, at least the brass/bronze/Copper, but okay for whole thing. I tried cold blackening it, but didn’t work. Can this be powder coated? If not, what else to make it black?

Its a Repop and it will probably leak, keep this in mind when coloring it...

I have to ask a real, stupid question...... Why ?
Not a stupid question at all! Engine, bay, distributor, voltage regulator, wires, hoses, hose ends, everything will all be three colors. Blue, silver/chrome, and black. Brass isn’t in the mix.

After so long, it’ll turn black anyway. Mine was black when I took it off to rebuilt and then I polished it up.

Why don't you clean it with alcohol and spray it with Satin Clear????

Clean it with alcohol and water... give a light scuff with some 320 sandpaper or steel wool even. choose your favorite spray bomb....

Put some fittings in the thread first though. Could even roll up small ball of tape to put in the thread holes......

Easy ....

I caswel blackened the nuts and end fittings, then scuffed it all up, primer painted it, and then ceramic engine black for all the rest. Yes, plugged it all up beforehand! I’ll post a follow up when all set!

Spray it with vinegar and let it set for a couple of days and let the mild acid turn it black. Test it first on junk piece of brass/copper and see what it looks like. I bet it works. If it doesn't, try the same thing with phosphoric acid, neutralize it after the affect is reached. Plug off the insides.
