Hello - glad to be a member and excited to start my new project in the Spring, 1964 Polara 500 Sport Coupe. Very clean TX car, originally 383 auto. Original 383 was junk and scrapped by previous owner, and it came with a 440/727 from a 67 New Yorker that will be going in. I want to do a 4 speed conversion at some point, and have been looking around for parts for that. There are also some other parts I am looking for, including a decent center console, right upper fender trim piece(see missing piece in pic) and front bumper.
It is one of four projects I have, and once I wrap some things up on a 68 Firebird to sell it this next Spring, I will be using that money to fund the Polara. Have wanted to own a cool Mopar for a long time and this is a good start!!

:welcome: & :thankyou: for joining us. That will be cool beans when it's finished.

Nice.

Welcome from Alabama, that's going to be a great project.

Welcome from a 65 owner on the left coast. My oldest bro lives in Bemidji. Was in Albert Lea.

Welcome to FBBO from Ontario, Canada. That looks like a nice '64 Polara 500 project. There is a lot of knowledge and help on this site. From doing two 1964 Polara's, I know there are a lot of reproduction parts out there for these cars. Legendary Interiors has just about everything you will need for your car's interior. Classic Industries has a free catalogue with lots of stuff for your project. Get to know Joe Suchy in Georgia. He is a '64 Plymouth guy, but has a business of supplying parts for early B-bodies. Finding the Polara 500-specific swirled side trim might be difficult. If the original cable shifted 727 came with your car, use it with your newer 440. The 1967 trans won't work in your car without a lot of modification. Also, if you have to find another '64 727, it has to come from a console-shifted car. There are valve body differences between console and push button shift. Or you could use a 1965 big block 727, since it uses a valve body similar to the 1964 console shifter one. The 1965's used the improved slip joint driveshaft, so you would need to get a new one made.

Thank you very much for this info! I have been on a learning curve since picking up the car. At least my swirl side trim looks decent enough for now. Appreciate the input very much!

Welcome from Wisconsin, I used to hang out in Holdingford in the 70s. Nice area.

Thank you - our daughter actually graduated from Holdingford in 2004, and married a local boy. Our teenage boys, though, chose to attend ROCORI in Cold Spring. I lived in Rice Lake, WI in the later 80's and loved it there!
OH - I picked up my Polara from a guy in Eau Claire that had it for over 13 years. Kinda taking it over from where him and his dad left off.

Minnesotans are always Welcome - I’m from Mpls went to college in Winona. Glad you’re here
