Just a few months ago finding it for 99c lb wasn't all that hard with 1.29 being non sale price but today, it's 1.79 geez. And forget beef! Can't even afford that anymore.....

Supply chain at work hold on not over yet.

I wish.. Chicken Breasts ON SALE this week. $5.99/lb = $4.62US/lb Wings are the same price! I couldn't buy chick backs for $1.79/lb!

Think prices are crazy now?? Wait till next year. Farmers can't get fertilizer or seeds to plant next years crops. No-way this can stay in general it will be in the PF soon.

Well, if it gets nuts with the political crap....two things can happen! :D

I'm seeing pricing going everyweek on a lot of different things. Some stores can't even get dog food on the selves.

Do prairie dogs taste like chicken?:D

I will do my best to keep this short and on a even keel.
This spike in meat prices aka the bottle neck started near 2 yrs ago.
The covid pandemic. At that time for better or for worse it was treated as being fake and swept under the rug.
After the pandemic went through the packing plants , beef , poultry , pork and the work force became infected the plants closed for a time.
This then forced the farms to unload all cattle , hogs , ect as you can not just let them keep growing.
With no end in sight at that time the numbers were not replaced aka the shortage we now see and we all know what happens to prices once there is a shortage.
You folks all know this stuff it is not a mystery.
Ck. IBP , Tyson, ect ect profit, loss and were their stocks are trading at. :D

Yet we are never short of junk food, candy, cheap beer, and cigs.
Why not mandate some brains and return to basics for the leaders?

stopped about 10 feet short of a 4 point buck last night..... we stared at each other for about 20 seconds before he went on his way........ if I come across a fresh road kill deer in this cold weather, he's going in the back of my Durango and straight to the butcher

Plenty of cattle and hogs out there. Record numbers of 150+ day cattle in the feedlots. The problem lies with the plants. Not enough people to run at full tilt. That's why there is a shortage.

They just reported on the news that the Deer can have Covid.....:wtf::wtf::screwy::screwy:

To reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection when handling harvested deer, people should follow the same guidelines recommended to reduce human-to-human transmission, such as hand washing, gloves and masks. Personal vaccination can also greatly reduce the risk of catching the virus, the department said. If the deer refuses to wear a mask while being field dressed, he should be clubbed over the head repeatedly till he gets the message.

Prices are definitely up on most goods. A trip to the butcher shop is about 25% more expensive around here. I was fortunate to get a deer this year but processing is also more expensive! 440'

You must be seeing different numbers than us. https://www.fb.org/market-intel/when-will-beef-and-pork-markets-return-to-normal
FB shows a 6.7% decline in numbers adding both beef and pork together , I did not see the poultry reports.
But yes, agreed, the lack of help / work force in the packing industry has a lot to do with the numbers.

cruel

but funny :poke:

sorry Cranky

yeah I'm almost at the point I don't look at prices
it pisses me off so bad
seems like groceries, in general, are all up some 20% to 50%
produce is way more, like 40% plus/plus to 100% more to begin with
& most of it here is grown right here

fuel up 110% & shipping cost up 20% is just the tip of it

wake up people
