They are doing that in a province up here. To off set the gas tax being lost.
The EV driver/owners thought they were getting a free pass for not using fuel. And there whining. To bad.

I don’t like the “charge for actual miles driven”. It’s BS! Pay the “fee” of X amount, and be done.

In Washington State I pay gross weight fees on a 1990’s 4 cyl compact FWD commuter car. Really.

I have to disagree here. There should be ZERO FEES for either vehicle usages. Nevada is toying with doing the exact same thing but it will fail in the end...cr8crshr/Bill :usflag:

Unfortunately this will fail as it will become part of requirement in order for every state to receive federal funding for highways.

To @69 hemibee who disagreed with my comment above. Here's why I refer to them as I do.....

The government subsidizes those purchase EV's in the form of tax credits, even the 100K Teslas. The taxpayer has paid for those subsidies.
Those who purchase EV's pay no road tax which goes to maintain/repair roads.
The government wants to build charging stations (refueling stations) for EV's at tax payer expense.

Unless you hit the red X by accident, show me where I'm wrong.

They're subsidized at the moment but there will come a time when they are taxed up the *** like everyone else.
On another note, yesterday I burned off a Hyundai Kona EV in a 2 lane to 1 stop light drag, much to the owner's distress.
I don't know if he was angry because his cutting edge personal transport vehicle was blown away by a 55 year old barge or because it was only a lowly 318 poly that beat him...

I tend to give everyone the benefit of the doubt regarding red x's, when there is no history of argumentative posts. It's fairly easy to inadvertently give a red x, and not even know, especially when scrolling on a phone. I've done it more times than I care to admit.

I make FAR more typos from the phone than the laptop. 99% of the time when I edit a post, it is to correct punctuation or spelling errors.

I suspect eventually electric vehicle owners will also have to start paying a premium on their home owners insurance. I saw where another EV,, a Tesla (this time parked in the driveway) spontaneously combusted again and the fire spread to the garage and house. Happens all the time.

of course how it usually goes, they will just spread the additional cost to everyone so we all get to pay for this EV folly.
