What is this 6 pack set up worth- original mint DC Hussle stuff 440 6pack

When did the “CH8” appear on the drivers side heat crossover? This one has it, so it must have been soon after A12 production.

It was CH6, and that was the aftermarket EDE manifold, not the OEM A12. Although they are the same.

Thanks. My ‘70 Charger has the “wrong” intake manifold. It’s the aluminum version without the “CH6”. I’m OK with that. My ‘Cuda has the “right” cast iron one... it weighs a ton!

The "triple pumper" combination was not at all popular in my area when DC offered it. Think I only saw 1 in the bracket wars, which were unlimited. Does seem like a 4 speed car would like that at the dragstrip.
I gave away my last 6 Pak about 6 years ago. Not an OEM, but real close, mint condition. Looking at prices the last few years, I kick myself. Oh well.

Actually if it doesn't have CH6, but has the Mopar part number and Penastar, it's the OEM one. That would be an A12 manifold. Some early '70 six pak cars got the aluminum manifold before they switched to the cast iron.

Agree. As I understand it, the ch6 was on the aftermarket version from edelbrock. The guys that wanted to pass off their clones as original weren't happy, cause a knowledgeable viewer could tell, from ten feet away.
So now the new repops have the part number, (which can't be seen with the carbs in place) and no ch6.
You can still tell the new ones from the originals. The edelbrock script isn't near as crisp, the firing order and rotation script is shabby too.

The CH6 was the second or third over the counter manifold. The A12 (original) is on the bottom and the CH6B (first over the counter) on the top. I would like to see the part number, this would help.

I have the original from my A12, and also a ch6 with no part#, lousy decorative details, and horrible core shift, along with terrible port openings.
At least it was free, and nothing a few minutes with a die grinder won't fix.
Edit: and the wonky "6" on the part# is the real A12 giveaway.

So yours had a CH6 cast on the runner? No Mopar markings?

Trying to load photos, but the "upload photos" button doesn't seem to work. Nothing happens.
Anyway, yeah my aftermarket one has the ch6 on the heat crossover, and no part number. I got it from someone who failed trying to plumb it underneath for a hidden nitrous set-up.
A little welding, a couple plugs, good to go. (Haven't cured the core shift or the terrible port openings yet).

I still have a 440 6 pack set up (AM Eddy intake but original carbs I think) laying around, also have nitrous plates for one someone gave me. I took it off my 70 Challenger when I went to EFI 6 pack. Not sure what I will do with the intake or the plates but I am sure I will figure it out at some point. I don't have any plans to ever run another carb of any kind but then again "never say never".

I've had a few of those setups and they run strong and are easy to tune. Value is going to be at least $1k less than an original carb setup IMO because no one is going to pay a collector price for a non OEM part.

Thanks but these are oem style vacuum secondaries, and just in case you were thinking about it yourself Mancini sells a new set up complete with linkage et al’ for $2500 on the RB and $2400 for a B intake version

Oops, looks like @70chall440 and I were typing at the same time but he hit the post button first. Yes as challenging mentions they are all available new from Mancini for a good deal. I think right now you can get 10% off with discount code #Holiday Thanks.

Just to make sure you are comparing oranges to oranges
Sixpack Performance Package includes the Air Filter & breather
MANCINI DOES NOT
The breather is an additional $420 on sale $499 normally

I remember "back in the day" when you could order these from DC. The only guys I ever saw run them were racers, the progressive linkage could be a bit problematic to get just right but once you did they worked pretty well.

This fantasy that in stock form everything was perfect or as good as it was going to get is just that, fantasy. The factory (every manufacturer) had to make compromises to get cars on the road but the after market was/is there to help. Stock cars while interesting are boring and far from meeting their potential which is why the vast majority were modified almost as soon as leaving the lot (or even before as many dealers offered "speed" upgrades in-house). We would not have companies like Direct connection, Grand Spaulding, etc. without a serious dose of hot rodding desire. Performance and modification are the hall marks and life blood of the muscle car world which is why returning them to stock does not make sense at least to me. I can respect a restored car but it has no interest or appeal. Of course this is just my opinion....

Sorry to get off topic... As to the value, its completely up in the air IMO, seeing that you can a brand new setup from Mancini right now for $2500, I would have to say less than that.
I think they are out of stock I have been looking and no one has any in stock .

Nobody sells the 4782 and 4783 carb setup anymore. They were over the counter carbs back in the day by Direct Connection. To the op, I might be interested in them.

Ha,ha: First set of those carbs I bought was in 1980, can't remember how much I paid for them.
