Plastic with molded in gasket. Just curious how they hold up for leakage.

I would think heat /cold it would finally get brittle and maybe fall apart.

I have one and it’s excellent, just a dab of silicone in thenisual spots like where the timing chain case joins it etc…

I put it on my factory 383 a-body, new oil pan bolts, and I made sure the pan surface was flat.
After 1 r&r and a few years, no leaks.

It has 2 rows of rubber and steel inserts at the bolt holes.
I did put some sealant between the block and timing cover/rear main, only enough to smooth out the surface.

I was concerned about the windage, as a-body sump is forward and the pan shallow.
After a few test drives the oil pressure would drop too much for my taste at high rpm, never dropped at all before, so I pulled it, cut the sump out, filed the edges smooth, and put it back.
No evidence of leaking at any time.

I bought one for my b-body and just cut the center out before installing. Maybe they sell without now, but at the time did not.

Also, would have to modify for both cars to clearance the pick-up tube.

Didn't buy it for windage, just wanted to try a different gasket as over time other options/solutions didn't hold up.

With an original pan they would likely seal better than it would with a Milodon 6 quart Hemi pan. I found out that the Milodon pan I have is actually 1/4" shorter in length than a stock pan. This poses no sealing problems with a regular steel windage tray gasket sandwich but those plastic combination windage tray/gaskets use thin sealing ribs. The outer rib sits too close to the edge of my Milodon pan.

Gen 3 Hemi’s use one similar and they work well.

Interesting and good to know, I have a mopar factory 69 1/2 6 pack pan on my 451 and it’s not like what you have pictured there. What manufacturer is that gasket you have there? There may be a couple different makes of these. I will try to get some better pictures of mine installed but it defiant;eh not like that

Is that a Milodon you have pictures there or oem pan Kern (from what I read and understand it’s a Milodon but user does look factory-Esq)

Edit, found a couple pictures. The outer rub may just extend slightly beyond the pan around the bolt holes. Tiny dab of silicone on each bolt area too but I don’t think that this silicone oozing out, must be the rib. No leaks though!

Looks similar to the trans pan gasket on my Ram. I've been reusing it for 21 years with no leaks. In that time, I've dropped the pan for service probably over 15 times.

This is a 402 pan.

24 3/8".

This is the Milodon pan:

Yeah, 24 1/16". maybe.
This is the windage tray, a generic one from Jegs.

The longer 402 pan covers more of the windage tray and probably seals better as a result.

I went with a Milodon windage tray and back to the gasket sandwich.

Lay it on the 402 Pan

Check the areas for sealing around all the dimples in the oil pan , also especially around the dipstick tube hole for sealing

Many threads on these plastic windage trays
